Sprocket cover interchangeable?

Post by Jorian »

750 and 906 Pasos have different part numbers for this part.
But can one from a 750 fit a 906, or is there an important difference?

Some times the quickest way to find out is to go to good ole eBay ( or elsewhere ) and see if you can't view pix of parts for sale. I thing the 750 and the 906 motor are based on different crankcases so it probly is different
I wish I was young again............Id be heaps smarter than last time

The cover on the 500 and 600 Pantah engines are certainly different. I'd assume that the 750 Paso engine which is based on the Pantah engine is also different.

750 and 906 Pasos have different part numbers for this part.
The reason being that the parts catalog only shows the 906 engine with the clutch slave piston on the left engine side. If you have an early 906 with the piston in the clutch cover the sprocket cover from a P750 will fit, as will the one from the 750 Supersport, Monster, Cagiva Elefant and probably some others.
There are different versions of the '750' sprocket cover. I.e. there is a longer version and one with cut out slots.

If your engine has the clutch slave cylinder on the left you can fit the sprocket cover from almost all later 900, 748, 916, ST2, ST3, ST4, SSie etc. There's a huge choice of aftermarket covers.

The Paso 906 here has the clutch slave cylinder on the right.
So, a Paso 750 sprocket cover should be OK.
Thank you for the info.

A Paso 750 cover may not fit on the 906 engine. While the 906 has the slave cylinder fitted to the clutch cover it utilises the same engine cases as the 907 and 851 which have the slave cylinder on the left side. The 906 has a blank plate fitted on the left side instead of the slave cyl. and the sprocket cover is shaped to fit around the plate.

The sprocket cover was described as fitting Paso 750 and 906.
It fits perfectly, with a cutout for the dummy clutch slave cylinder.
