Dear Paso friends
It's a tiresome subject, but unfortunately there seems to be a shortage of 16 inch tyres again. As far as I know, only Shinko produces the SR 880/881 tyres in the correct format. Today I tried to order some tyres from the German supplier Schenk (www.mc-reifen.de). They told me: There are still some rear tyres available, but orders for front tyres are currently being collected worldwide. Shinko will only produce tyres if there are enough orders. This is understandable. If the old Ducati bikes are hardly ever ridden, then no more parts are needed. I will now put my name on the waiting list at Schenk (and pay half the deposit) in the hope that something will happen.
My request to the community: Please place your orders if you need tires in the near future, otherwise the issue will be over for all 16-inch Ducatis from the 1980s. That would be a great pity.
All the best, Hardo

Re: Shortage of 16 inch tires
Thanks Hardo. I am going to need new tyres in the next year, if I don't use the Paso very much. I contacted Schenk and they are going to add me to the list. At least that is two of us now. Hopefully more will follow.
Schenk told me that the latest news was that the tires will be produced in the next 3 months. It depends on how fast they will get their actual production done.
After production it will take about 3-4 months until the tyres arrive. So it could be around 6-7 months before before I have mine in my posession.

Re: Shortage of 16 inch tires
Hello,
I have got my last couple of tyres las Sept/23 at German supplier Schenk (www.mc-reifen.de) in a just 10 days.
Good to know about the new status. I am running still on the previous ones, so I have stock for the moment, but thinking about joining the list.
Thanks for the info.

Fabián

Re: Shortage of 16 inch tires
Dear all, I have now received one tyre from Germany / Schenk (DOT 2023) 160/60 and one from the USA, 130/60, unfortunately from 2021. We must generate some demand. If not, no tyre manufacturer is interested in producing the correct tyres. I did use 130/70 and 150/80 Avon Azaro in the past (there is also a thread here from 2011), but it comes with some disadvantages. I would also like to join the list of Schenk - hope it helps. All the best, Hardo
