hello all,
am nearly done with catching up on the usual maintenance items on my new-to-me 907ie, and changing the fork oil is next. found no air pressure built up in the schrader valves, fork caps were loosened, bike is suspended and wheel off the floor at the moment. i'll be leaving the forks on the bike, and removing the front wheel/fender etc to allow pumping the old fluid out.
my question is, how much are the springs pre-loaded by the caps? does it take a huge amount of down-pressure to install the caps?
thx, this site is a great resource. i use it all the time.
how difficult to reinstall fork caps after fork oil change?

to answer my own question, it's very easy to compress the spring and install the cap. just need to compress the spring maybe 3/4 inch with the socket and ratchet in place, then just engage the threads and screw in. easy-peasy.
