New Aftermarket Shock for 907?

Post by sungamma »

Howdy. Was wondering about recommendations for new aftermarket shock for our beloved 907. Recommendations? Is the stock one rebuildable and is it even worth it? Please respond via email instead of PM if possible because I cannot check this site too frequently. (sungamma@aol.com)

Thanks!

907 shock

Thanks for the data. Is this the same for the 907ie as for your 750 Paso? BTW, the Fox has got to be way cheaper than an Ohlins....

paso shock rebuild?

Post by sungamma »

Wow, thanks for the link. Can you provide a translation so I know exactly what I'm getting? Also, it say's it's for the 906. Is the 907 shock identical?

Thanks,

Gary

aftermarket shock

FYI, just talked to Fox and they no longer make shocks for ANY streetbikes. Also looked at Ohlins website and they do not have a shock listed for the 907 (bummer).

Spend a little time in the archives and you will see i spent about year and a half trying to find Ohlins for my 907. Ohlins built shocks for the 750 to Ducati specs. These were only available thru Ducati network. They never built and will not custom build for 907. I know, i tried.
Best option in my opinion is Penske 8981 series which they will valve and spring to your weight and riding style.
If you are interested in a good stock shock, i sold my 907 a few weeks ago and gave new owner the shock which has 6000 miles total on it and needs only nitrogen recharge[any decent dirt bike shop]. Cliff says will put on Ebay eventually.

haven given this much thought really, but yes i do have the original 907ie shock that carl gave me when i bought his 907 with the penske shock.

as carl said it is in superb shape ( i.e. 6000 miles of usage ) and only needs to be nitrogen recharged.

anyone interested in purchasing please contact me via pm and we can discuss.

thanks.

Fox Shocks

I was told by my local bike shop that RaceTech took over/bought out Fox's streetbike shock line. I don't know if this is true but it never hurts to make a call. http://www.race-tech.com

Thanks,

I don't know the German language, but I can translate the text with Altavista :D :D :D :D

So, this is its translation "Ducati PASO 906/907 original shock absorber repair kit again!!! This set is new and was never installed. With this kit the complete shock absorber can be overhauled. All necessary parts are contained".

Perhaps, this could be not a perfect British English, but I'm quite satisfied.

I purchased a couple of these kits from this vendor earlier this year. If there are any questions about the individual pieces I can break one out and look at it for you.

The transaction was flawless. I would buy from them again.

Works Performance shows shocks for all the Paso models:

Street Bike Application Guide

I had them build a custom shock for my VFR years ago and they were great to work with.

Hi all,

Some 5 yrs back I made a deal with the importer of Ohlins (and Ducati) in Denmark to make me a shock. So I have a fully adjustable Ohlins rear shock. It was aparantly made from some old drawings that he had lying about and it first cam with a grade 5 spring. Much too soft and was changed to a "7" and later to a "9" which does work fine with the bike.
If the information of this rebuild is still available and if your local Ohlins person will touch such rebuilds is the question.
Anyway it can be done. Race Tech, Penske and maybe others are surely capable, but if they are willing to do this for our historic bikes are another thing.
Good luck.

Obviously, I also bought a kit.
There are the gaskets and the bearing.
I confirm the transaction was flawless, even if I guess the seller don't know very well what's selling.
