$$$ to maintain a 907
I want to change the oil on my 907 and just got the shock of my life. I paid approximately $63 US for Silkolene (sp) synthtic oil and one (1) genuine Ducati oil filter. I'll do the oil change myself but can you imagine paying that kind of money for a lousy, stinking oil change on ANY #$%&$%&%$ motorcycle?
At this point I'd be better off giving up my 907 and taking up women (full time), at least I'd have some fun while I was changing fluids. :laugh:

Oil is like women, different strokes for different folks.
I like the Amsoil full synthetic 10 40 and a hiflo filter though K and N makes one too. I don't buy into their crap like the airfilters that flow about three times what the engine will at WOT :laugh: Your price is not the most you could spend on oil but heck its cheap in the long run.

The only way to survive to the Ducati maintenance costs is AVOIDING the official dealers!
If you start to buy the genuine oil filter.... Buy only the strictly needed spare parts!
Try asking to the Ducati dealer how much does cost a "genuine" fuel filter... :toofar: :toofar:

Talbot 1500 filter fits perfectly!!! And coast about 8€...
Btw, try one day 15W-50 fully synthetic Shell Advance Ultra oil and never go back to those too thinns 10W-40 oils.. That happen to me and NEVER AGAIN those "waters" to Ducati engine..... :funny:

If talking about FUEL filter, I use normal Ducati 907 fuel filter OUTSIDE tank in line to injectors... I can find those same filters easily from car spare parts shops, exact same numbers with much lower price, that in Ducati dealer... Was manufacturer "KNEHT", or something, like that... Cant remember now number, sorry.
I have used very long time Talbot 1500 oil filters in my all Ducatis and nothing bad have ever happen... Its not so wise to buy all stuff from Ducati dealer...

very easy to HEAR difference in gearbox !!!! Much quiter with 15W-50, than with 10W-40, no matter, is it Mobil(what i used earlier..), or Shell (currently) :laugh:

there's no way around it. ducatis are expensive habits. synthetic oil, regardless of the brand and weight, (i agree w/ those who favor 15/50 over the thinner 10/40, and it's what ducati recommends), costs about 15 dollars a quart. ur probably asking, "how can they do it so cheap?" the answer is, "volume!" that's the key to the cheap price of all the synthos.
if u really want to spend some cash, have the duc dealer do ur oil change. by the time they're done fixing everything they find wrong, (changing a bad bulb, replacing coolant and hoses, adjusting the clutch, and while u've got the plastic off, might as well go ahead and adjust the valves, and hey, since we've got it all apart, what the hell, throw some new belts on there too!), u've spent some major money.
one "oil change" cost me $1,100. another one $2,200! if u only spent $63.00 dollars on ur oil change, consider urself lucky!!! but i hear u, $15.00/quart for oil is simply outragous!!!!!
try not to think about it. focus on the benefits.

I bet 90W would be real quiet LOL
The weight of the oil has nothing to do with its ability to perform better, we used a heavier oil in the race car because of high temps and loose tolerances at the crank. Some of the newer cars use a 5-20...I can pee thicker than that
