I missed getting the official rebuild kit for the stock shock on ebay. If anyone comes across another, please let me know. I'd like to take a shot at rbuilding the stock shock although I'll probably end up buying a WP shock as I get a small discount on it. Basically, it's the difference between $150-$200 US for a rebuild to stock condition versus a bit less than $400 for a new (and hopfully better) aftermarket shock. I'll let y'all know what I decide and how it turns out..... I appreciate all of the input on this subject......

i have a stock shock from a 1991 907ie.
total mileage on the shock is 6500.

This is the kit I also bought.
I think it will be useful (I bought it for the future...), but I think also that a good craftsman cans repair every shock fixing the right gaskets and the bearings...

Hagon will change spring rates as desired but won't set up Comp and rebound for you.

Öhlins dont need change springs, cause it have spring preload remote control

Ohlins should change the spring because the whether you can adjust the pre load or not tyou still need a spring rate that is correct.


All the pre load is doing is moving you to a different point in the spring rate not changing the rate.
The two are very different and are commonly confused which can be why people end up with such poor handling bikes (Try getting a Japanese 400 to fit a 95KG rider and then you can see the difference between spring pre load and spring rate)

Öhlins is made in Sweden, so its "designed" to normal (north European) drivers, not for very light jap drivers.... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: And that my 750 Pasos Öhlins with spring preload function VERY well with my driving style, no anykind problem with it, but its much softer, than 907 Marzhocci spring...

Before you throw away a non-working standard Marzocchi shock, check to see if it's leaking oil - if it's not, then the air pressure in the remote res may have gone down (some slowly leak - mine does)? If that has no pressure, try inflating it to around 100psi with an air line (yes, just plain air - that's what the Marzocchi service manual says use) and see if it works again?

Very cheap fix.
