Dzus fasteners

Post by Cybermunster »

Hello all  ,

This will be my first post on the forum as I now own a beautiful 1992 907 IE  .
Bought it from my brother who goes by the name of "Vyckon" here in the forum (he owns a awesome 1991 900SS.

I'd like to change the original fasteners to Dzus type can anyone point me in the right direction?

Would also appreciate suggestions on reading/info sites about these great bikes :D

Many thanks!

Dzus Fasteners

Post by mrinflux »

Cybermunster,

I have Dzus fasteners on one of my 907ies. When ordering studs remember that not all the stock well nuts on the 907 are the same size. You'll need to measure and order accordingly. I don't recall all the stud sizes. i know that one of the sizes, ('cause i recently replaced one I lost), is:

AJ5-60 Cad Oval Head Stud

Measuring the correct size is a bit tricky. Dzus fasteners have 3 measurments: Head size, shaft diameter, and distance from back of head to Dzus groove. The web site posted below has a helpful diagram. Heads are available in "D" clip, (like on the 916/996/998), wing clip, flush and oval head studs. You can get either cad or SS finish.

You can order them direct from:

Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Co.

Their website is:

http://www.aircraftspruce.com

They cost $1.79/ea, plus shipping. No minimum order required. Shipping is very reasonable in the USA. I paid $1.86 to have 10 studs shipped USPS first class. The studs arrived w/in a week.

The folks at Aircraft Spruce are very helpful. They can help you select the right fastener for the AJ5-60 Cad Oval Head Stud. Their toll free number is:
(877) 477-7823.

Good luck w/ your conversion.

Hi Elton,

do you happen to have a close-up picture of your bike with those fasteners.
I`m asking because the dzuz fasteners I`ve seen (how can I explain...) where clamped on the fairing`s edge and fixed with 2 very small screws. These kind of fasteners were not large enough to fit on the thick Paso fairings, they were only good for thin carbon ones.
So I`m curious.

Guys,

I don't have any close-up pics right now but since you've asked, I'll take some pics and post them.
