750 paso for beginners

HI everybody

first of all, I'm french - so excuse my mistakes ...

I passed my moto driving license in november 2006 and I'm looking for a bike to :
- have pleasure at common speed (near 110 km / h)
- bring my girl with a little bite of comfort (I'm not looking for a pullman but she got a soft bottom ... )
- use it only for pleasure (week-end and holidays)

I'm also looking for a not to expensive bike to buy (in France 750 Paso prices are OK for me) and not to expensive to maintain even if it means doing a part of the maintain myself (oil nd filter change)

so I wanted to know if you think that a 750 Ducati Paso could be a good bike for me (there is one near my parents home - in le Mans - not to epensive - year 1990 / 26 000 km / 2700€ - what doyou think about?)

Welcome Dude !
For sure, the Paso is not an easy bike for a beginner.
It is a little bit heavy and hard to ride because of too much large tires.
No matter, it is a very comfortable bike, both for the rider and the passenger.

Besides, all the Ducati need a very frequent and expensive servicing because of the complicated desmo engine and, above all on the Pasos, some unreliability of the electrics and the carburetor.
So, many people here work on its bike and are able to do most of the servicing.

Furthermore, since we are talking about a 20 years old bikes, some spare part is no longer available and the tires are very hard to find because they are built only by Michelin.

So, you have to be a real Ducati/Paso fan to afford it. Not for the buy's price, but for the maintaining price.
€. 2700 is little bit high price, but can be a fair price if the bike was very good.

Finally, I sold a PERFECT Honda Hornet 600, very reliable but very boring bike, and bought my 907.

P.S. If you like the Paso's look, think about a 907: it's a more modern bike which hasn't some 750's trouble. In fact the 907 has 17" wheels, electronic injection, etc.

Hi dude!
You'll have a better idea about "good conditions bike"
reading the "tecnical F.A.Q digest" in this forum.
I mean, you can understand how to search troubles in a paso, such as improper carb tuning, wheels, electrical troubles and so on.
I'd never ment to buy my second paso if I'd not recognise it's almost "perfect"!

The PASO is a bike to be passionate about it is not a cheap bike to own.
Like

(soft bottom ... ) - use it only for pleasure.

I use it only for pleasure about 5000km per year.
If you want cheap and reliable buy a HONDA.
If you want something to love and play with get a DUCATI.
