Hi! Newbie w questions
New member saying hi, this seems like the place to hang f Pasolovers!
Bought a red 907ie 24 hrs ago and very happy w it! 250 km`s done. Since being a carb fan w a modded M900 in the garage and a rookie on FI etc, I have some questions (read most posts here):
1. Motor specs seems hard to find. Has it cams & valve sizes as 91-97SS?
Ducati.com says 90Hp, others 78. 78 is correct?
2. What injection unit do I have? Does it have a rev limiter?
3. What is the actual weight w fluids? I´ve read 230, 220 & 200kg.
4. Are silencers interchangeable 750-906-907?
Any brand still makes any?
5. Where to find a Workshop manual?
6. Was blue an original colour in US?
7. Any 907 specific electric gremlins?
8. Injector cleaner, do you use it and w good result?
And this is just the start...
Any info appreciated!
Gert

Re: Hi! Newbie w questions
As far as I know it has the same spec engine as a same year 900ss. The heads are machined a bit differently for water cooling but that's about it.Tamburinifan wrote:New member saying hi, this seems like the place to hang f Pasolovers!

Yeah, it's got a rev limiter. Weber-Marelli injection.
No idea on actual weight
I've never changed silincers so don't know about that either
You need to get both a 906 and 907 shop manual. They show up on eBay occassionally or you can check with places like Fast by Ferracci or Pro Italia. Or even your local dealer??? There is also a Haynes manual available but it's more generic and I'm not sure if it covers much for the 907 specifically. Desmotimes has a manual for the two valve bikes also, might be helpful if you're just doing general maintanence.
907s were never blue.
I can' think of any electrical gremilins... on some bikes the clock runs the battery down.
I've never used injector cleaner on the bike...

Re: Hi! Newbie w questions
Welcome Gert
,
here the answers:
1. the "real" power at the crankshaft is about 78 hp.
2. the injection is a Magneti Marelli, both the ECU (043W - P7) and the throttle bodies. It doesn't have a rev limiter.
3. the weight with the fluids is about 220 kg. (without gasoline).
4. the silencers are interchangeable among 750, 906 and 907. Many factories still build the silencers, as Termignoni.
5. you can find the shop manual in the downloads section of this website.
6. the factory colours were red and black.
7. some little electric issue above all for the bad connections. Poor current regulator like all the 90's Ducati.
8. I also am searching for a good injection cleaner, any advice would be welcome.
Ciao

Good forum, good answers quickly!
Yup, sure feels like 220kg & 78 hp.
Hmm, no rev limit, very early stage FI I guess.
Have a ugly and I guess not so good 2-1 exhaust w quite small can. Both engine and looks will benefit from OEM exhaust & 2 cans.
Good to hear but avaiability!
Oxidation issues on a 15 year, well, suprise. Good to hear no other problems than usual.
Thx Francesco! (Hmm, I really miss the standard smiley and big smile one)

CF = carbon fiber?Tamburinifan wrote:Any brand made/makes CF parts for Paso?
I never saw any CF part for the 907.
You can find the parts which fit on all the Ducati, like the clutch cover.
In the USA, there is a factory which builds fiberglass fairings, Aero...something.

Re: Hi! Newbie w questions
Then the chip I have must be a one-off because my bike without a doubt has a rev limiter...persempre907 wrote: 2. the injection is a Magneti Marelli, both the ECU (043W - P7) and the throttle bodies. It doesn't have a rev limiter.
(That said, my chip is a hand labeled version obtained from a Weber employee... but I thought they ALL had limiters.)

A Conti, great! :lick:
The whole exhaust system (pipes & can). is Conti or only the can?
So does the Conti system make the engine run better than OEM?
It`s staggered, i e going from smaller dia to larger.
Few 2V I`ve seen benefit from 2-1 systems.
Any pics avaliable of my exhaust in silver?
Even carb -01-99 900 Ducs have rev lim, must be one on 907?

It seems all a Conti, no matter it would be engraved on the exhaust.
Try to see on it.
I can't tell you how much benefit bring this exhaust, no matter the weight for sure is lower as well a 2 in 2 :funny: .
I have this rev limiter: a label on the dasboard "never exceed 9000 rpm" :funny: .
