Hi Cris,
welcome in this forum, I hope you'll enjoy it  .
I already answered to you in the "tta" forum, where I told you the factory colours were the red-white and the blue-white, as I knew.
I also owned a Paso 906 blue-white.
No matter, all advice is appreciated, because always it's possible learn something more.
Ciao

Grey 906

Post by ducatipete »

Bike looks good in Grey and white, can you get history of your bike from your registration office, to see what colour was declared when bike was brand new. Have the decals been laquered/clear coated, or have they just been stuck on, ie can you feel the edges? Factory ones were laquered...

On the Paso 906 there were a couple of decals "Liquid Cooled" which in that bike lack.
So, I think that bike has been repainted.
No matter, she looks good  !

Ian Falloons book know only, "red", "blue" and "black" for 906. Side 204 btw. Can it be, that Falloon means that "black" that Your colour in his list

about that "liquid cooled" decail from same book(side 78):.... "liquid cooled decals on either side of fairing, whitch distinguish the 906 from the 750- though these decails only appeared on LATER 906s"

Btw, i have seen another such coloured 906, as Yours, long time ago in internet.... It can be some normal thing from factory, that red colour ended and they find such colour from store shelves... They make those times Ducatis so.....

Original decails are under clearcoat!

I also met a gray 906 in milano's fair (nov 2006) but I didn't watched it close enough to see wheter it was repainted.
Have a look under the screws, the paint happens to go away and shows you what's there "under"
have a nice ride, Nicola

My old 906 was a MY '89 too, and had that "liquid cooled" decals.
No matter, on the Ducati website there Paso 906 which seems grey (or the photo is black&white???).

I have keep a foto of the bottom . Sorry now I speek in Italian

Prova a controllare.

That label seems to be detached and then reattached.
Really, it's possible that after the bike dropped a fairing could be replaced with another red one which was repainted, but you told also the tank was repainted...
For sure, also the tank could have been repainted, but if it's so, the bike would have had some bad accident, and it isn't seem so!!
You can make sure seeing at the swingarm: when a bike has a bad accident, the mufflers go toward the inner side and the footrest bolts dent the swingarm. It's very rare that someone replaces also the swingarm.
So, try check it.
No matter, the VIN numbers don't talk about the colour of the bike.
In the topic below, there is the explanation of the VIN numbers:

That color grey is an original color, although a rare one.

I worked from 1992 to 1994 for a large motorbike shop in Holland that also owned the Ducati/Cagiva importership. I've handled several Pasos in that color scheme in the showroom.
