I'm looking to have my engine rebuilt. I live in the USA in North Carolina. Any suggestions on a good shop nearby? I need to get back to riding. My disposition is getting bad.

I've heard some good things about the guys at Charlotte, but I have heard more good things about the mechanics at Myers in Asheville.......an additional bonus is that one of the mechanics is a bit familiar with the Paso bikes, as he has a 1987 Paso 750.

I don't care much for the Charlotte mechanics as I have had a bad experience with them. I've been to Myers, didn't know they could rebuild engines. I'll talk to them.

The DUcShop in Marietta might be good.
Possibly NPR Ducati in Watkinsville, GA.
But I would bet the best would be LT Snyder in Pensacola, Fl. I think he is at : http://www.desmotimes.com.

I have taken the bike down to the ducshop. I took it down the friday before labor day . . . . . and I haven't heard from them since.
They haven't returned my phone calls yet either. I hear they are moving from one building to another, might have something to do with the no communication.

I live in Georgia and am intimately familliar with the various Ducati shops, except for the new one in Watkinsville, however, I do know one of the owners, Paul B., he is trustworthy. There is a shop in Columbia SC, which I have heard very good reports on called moto gizimo(moto-gizmo.com), from friends near there.

Mark is the owner and used to work for Downtown Ducati in Columbia, SC, which closed its doors several years ago. I picked up my 907 after leaving it with the DucShop in Atlanta GA, USA the first weekend in September, 2007.
I told them I would not need it til this March, but Daytona and the beginning of the 2008 racing season put me off. They asked me if it was alright and it didn't bother me to give them the time.
Just a quick history. I was club racing at Kershaw S.C., USA last May when the engine died, then locked up and slid the tire quite a ways before my brain kicked in and I pulled the clutch lever in and coasted to a stop. The alternator rotor had cracked all the way through making it increase in diameter which made it rub the stator and melted to the stator, locking up the engine. Metal particles went all through the engine and I tried myself to clean it up, but kept getting metal particles in the oil screen.
So I checked around and the Ducshop was were everyone including other shops suggested I take it.
They tore down the engine, balanced and blue printed everything, shimmed and installed new main bearings, new gear sets and starter clutch and gears, did complete workup on the heads, new guides, valves, seats, etc. I had new pistons and rings already, they installed new inner clutch drum, some new plates, and did a full run up on the dyno. It runs super smooth now, a lot more power. Cost was this side of $4,000, OCH! Anyway, if you want to see the dynojet chart, let me know.
