shipping across the pond, how to?
shipping across the pond, how to?
Anyone have any idea how to ship tires out of the US? I have several people interested in my Michelin M59 tires. I've gone to the USPS and they tell me that it's too big to ship. I checked with UPS and they wanted $600 freakin dollars to ship two tires to Italy. Sheesh. Is there anyone who has done this reasonably? Say shipping to UK, Australia or New Zealand?

Davy,
The Post Office changed their shipping options in May and have severelt reduced the options while raising the prices. I looked into this a few weeks ago and it would be 125 to ship 2 tires to New Zealand. 25 lbs to Italy will be about $100 and take 6-10 days.
The package isn't too big but it may be too expensive...

As many knows, usa try to "protect" they own markets, just, like EU do, so it getting more expensive to ship things "overseas"...
And post packages start to be very high priced also. Much better to sell those tires in usa, but surely if someone is ready to pay very high shipping and VAT, tolls, etc in EU(from usa parts), then is ok.... Thast why i am currently looking only "inside market spare parts from EU", not anymore from usa. Too expensive from usa!!!

Steele "dear", i was talking mostly about shipping coast to EU, that was main point of my mail. I have noticed, that Michelin make those 16" tires quite exactly every 2. year in Spain, where is that factory. I have in my 750 Paso just new rear and front Michelin tires, what i bought from local shop 2 years ago. I havent had time to drive my 750 Paso since so much, only some very short trips... Surely i have heard plenty of rumours about 16" Michelins.... And i have hole 907 swingarm with wheels, brakes, etc for waiting 17" conversion, but that is LAST thing, what i want to do to my good looking 750 Paso with 16" rims....
Surely i hope, that U find 16" Michelins for Your Paso
And if U are rich man, then no anykind of problem to pay those shipping, etc coast from usa to EU....

This might be a bit out of date now, but a pair of Michelin tires were posted to me from USA to NZ in May this year at a cost of $47.25 for postage. It did take 9 weeks for they to arrive, but I was in no hurry, so all OK.
Fraser.
That option is unfortunately no longer available from the US Post Office. A pair of tires to NZ woud now cost about $120.00 for the postage. Still the cheapest way to do it, but nearly 3 times what it cost 4 months ago.

(here in Germany UPS is the most expensive option unless you`re running a business and have a business deal with them. Similar for other forwarders. Normal post office considering the longest delivery times is usually the cheapest).

current USPS rates for shipping to UK
The rate is better than I initially thought it would be. These rates are for the 6 to 10 days shipping time.
(1) tire $65.70
(2) tires $108.60
(3) tires $151.50
Three is the most I can send at one time (the package gets too big after that). If you are interested in three, I can go $300 for the tires and the shipping would be $151.50. If you want two the cost would be $250 plus $108.60. Thanks, Davy Keith.
Still have a bunch of M59's.
