+10 bhp!
+10 bhp!
Last Tuesday i have had a upgrade on my P7 ecu.
We have placed a FIM memoryboard with a Ultimap chip inside the P7.
First we did a run on the dynojet with the ''bad'' 023 factory chip.
The max. output was 71 bhp @ 7640 rpm but after we installed the upgrade and did a few runs i had max 81 bhp @ 7000 rpm.
I will add the printed power graph soon, need to find a scanner someware.

Remember guys, that FIM need AMB to ECU also, if want to change mapping and STORE that inside ECU. This is reality in P7 ECU. FIM is best available eprom to 907IE.
PS. I have also FIM chip and AMB in my 91 907IE.

The Ultimap chip is programmable because of the flash eeprom next to it on the memoryboard.
With the Ultimap (AMB) software on a laptop and the serial cable connected to the diagnostic 3-way connector you can actually adjust settings and convert them while you are doing runs on the dynojet.
The Ducati is original exept for the exhausts, they are from Superpole.
I can add some pictures of them on my 907ie if you like?

I had to adjust FIM mapping about 7,4% to richer hole area, cause i wanted best performance and i have modified engine, like ported heads... It happened just with FIM software and laptop pc. Btw, that software is very expensive. I dodnt have it, but my friend have.

I think, just normal FIM eprom function well with those small modifications, so then no need to add AMB, BUT if You want finetune Your bike to get BEST performance, then NEED to add AMB to ECU. FBF eprom is also good, if only small modifications, but FIM is better, cause it can be remapped with FIM software. FIM eproms are designed for NORMAL air filter, not open ones. Anyway best combination is FIM eprom WITH AMB.
Btw, my friend have also very good inertia Dyno, so he can easily adjust FIM chips in dynorun(if U have AMB to store changes!!!).... Take Your Ducati to Finland and we can then help You.... P8 ECU in 92* 907IE dont need AMB, cause it have "inside memory" for eprom mapping changes.

OK, thx.
I live 50 km`s from Sweden`s only shop w the FIM hard & software, Biscaya. So if I want to go the AMB/tunaable FIMeprom route I can do so.
But hopefully, as you say, it will go fine w just the chip and open cans. Maybe I will increase fuel pressure a little when removing snorkels.
Antti,
could I swap from my P7 to P8 w/o changing anything else?
Will the FIMchip I have now also fit the P8?

I wouldnt change fuel pressure. I have taken also snorkels away and i dont see any reason, why to make more fuel pressure. There is enough it and rest, what injectors cant use, are coming back to tank. Better only change mapping in eprom.Tamburinifan wrote:OK, thx.

FIM eprom fits to P8 ECU same way, as to P7. I havent heard, that anybody change from P7 to P8, so i am not sure about wiring. That must be checked before installion P8. Have You P8 (spare one) already? Maybe U are thinking, that P8 is cheaper to find, than buy AMB?
Btw, where is that Biscaya located in Sweden?

Like 50 km`s northeast of Gothenburg, where I live.where is that Biscaya located in Sweden?

FIMchip is tuned for open cans only, not for more air flow.
My friend can decode and make a new chip from the OEMchip, but, he can`t decode the FIMchip.

I think the FIMchip is very good but if I want open cans and more airflow, what to do? Besides buying a AMB & a tuneable FIMeprom?
That`s where the increased fuelpump pressure idea came from.
Not to hard to do, just a screw inside and some measuring.

So, ARE Your heads ported, or no??? If U want to go best way, then You have to port heads, that is one of most important thing to do, Then You have to think also hole inlet system, like snorkels away, or little open airbox cover, whatkind filter to use(maybe K & N?). U have to use open exhaust: 2-2 systems fits more better to Ducati engines, than 2-1 systems. At least: If You want more POWER, then these mods are not enough: U have to touch also to fuel mapping some way(richer mixture) and if You want finetune hole system in dyno, then ADJUSTABLE (like FIM is) is ONLY way to go. if U have P7, then U need AMB. Same can be done maybe with Your friend help from original eprom(u say so), but then also need to do many dynoruns and adjust mapping same time to suit eprom to Your modified system. Every engine is little different and finetune needs dynoruns and suitable "tools" for that. Simple, U can go short way, if You are not so accurate, but if U are "virgin", like me, then its better do with FIM and AMB and dynoruns. Cheapest way is not allways best.Tamburinifan wrote: I think the FIMchip is very good but if I want open cans and more airflow, what to do?

Btw, have to remind, that better airflow(only) DOESNT mean more power, for more power need more fuel(by remapping). Also warning: If make only better flowing, like open exhaust, then its easy to burn exhaust valves!

Very difficult question, cause every bike is different. I try dynorun my 907 still this autumn, so then i know mine...
