Engine (bad..) vibes

Post by eliatt »

Hi all,
My bike has a high compression piston kit installed by previous owner. the engine is Strong but not smooth - when revved to 5K it vibrates more noticeably, both in a ride & when resting.( in a ride : it feels as if the bike "wants" a 6th gear.) I use the original headers with open mufflers, stock air box with K&N filter & original Weber carb ( it`s going to be replaced soon by 38mm Mikunis),15t front, 40t rear. ( I guess 38t will be better).
Has any one have ideas / pointers / relevant links ? I really want to solve that one...
Thanks!

Uncorrect timing of ignition can give such troubles...
Moreover you might need a pair of pedercini ignition boxes

Compression test. Balance and sync the carbs first. Make sure valves are adjusted properly. Check the timing.

these were sold as "ducati performance" aftermarket parts:
Step #1.0 ; step #2.4 ; or step #3.0 for newer ducatis such as monster carb or ss carb.
After switching to fuel injection, I'm not sure they're still available in duc dealers, but you might find in the net or in some vintage market.
Good luck! :-)
have a nice ride, Nicola

Old Pederici 1:1 still avaliable, now as DP 9000.

Better to use Ignitech.cz TCI-P4 modul if you want/need new ignition.
Good, programmable & cheap, I have one and am happy!

when the bike starts to vibrate pull the clutch lever, if vibration is gone it's from the engine if not it comes from the chassis, suspension, wheels.
Years back my footpegs started to vibrate at a certain riding speed so my feet slowely become numb. At the end it was a failing crankshaft bearing which required an engine rebuilt.
