91', 92', or MAYBE 93' 907IE ?

Post by Finnpaso »

I have seen, that someone try to show, that he have "1993 907IE"   I think all 907 have made BEFORE 93 ! Its totally different thing, WHEN they are "put to street", than what model year they are! To make this more simple, there are only 2 modells of 907IE: 91' with "black front Brembos" and 92' with "golden Brembos"(black one are much more rare these days!). Surely also some other very small modificatios between 91' and 92' model, but no need to tell just here all small diffrences(i know them...)

I only wanted, that people be more accurate, what year modell bike they have...

It was me who used to describe my 907 as a 1993 because that was the year it was registered Antti...

...not only You, Rogero! :D

According to many Ducati books(mostly written by Ian Falloon), there are only 1991 and 1992 modell years for 907IE. I stay in "that side"

As everybody know, those times they make Ducatis from those parts, what factory "find from they storage shelves"! Its normal and can it be also, that those Your calipers have changed LATER to Your bike? Maybe in warranty time? Do U have P7, or P8, whatkind saddle? Pipes?

Ps. surely Ducati sold also 92 modells in late 91, just, like cars today....

...and do you have the 300 mm. or 320 mm. front rotors?
Because, while the '91 bikes have the 300 mm. rotors, the '92 ones have the 320 mm. rotors, even if both the bikes can fit the goldline calipers.

In the early nineties ducati took what they had on the laying around as Antti says
so it´s quite normal to see -91 907:s with both black and gold brembos but as
Francesco says -91 , 300 mm diameter discs, - 92 320 mm. The silencers are also
different (most of the time) although you can see - 91:s both with black silencers
and the newer type with aluminium wrapping. The seat is also a little bit different
in seat height, I have both types of seats and the newer type is lower. My - 91
also has aluminium wrapped silencers, but black brembos. I believe the - 92 type also
have a lockable gas cap??

I have two '92 907, one of them for spare parts.

One has got the lockable gas cap, while another one hasn't it got.

The one with the lockable gas cap has a different key as regards to the ignition key (a Zadi 7), while I saw many '92 USA 907 where the cap has the same key (Zadi 10) of the ignition key and of rest of the locks.

Judging the year by the type of gas cap is risky at best. I'm pretty sure the later cap will fit an earlier tank with no problems so it doesn't prove anything either way.

Its very easy to loose key and change newer type of gas cap to older modell and also via versa. That is quite small thing compared to saddle/mufflers/rotors/calipers/ECU(P7/P8).

Rest assured those are original calipers. Known the bike since new and maintained up until time you purchased.

All the people don't believe these bikes are 15/20 years old.
It's the shape that is really modern too and timeless.
