.au and .nz guys - market value on a 750?

Post by mike »

I got an email from someone trying to evaluate fair market value for a blue '89 reg 750 Paso. Apparently in excellent condition with 47K km on the clock.
Any thoughts? Local sources I can point this person to for determining what to sell this bike for?

Mike,
In NZ they should check out Trademe.co.nz there is nearly always one or two Pasos offered for sale. With the mileage (although it is not so much) he shouldn't expect to get much over NZ$5000.
In the last 6 months I can remember 3 x Pasos being relisted several times and none reached their reserve (bids did reach NZ$5000). Just 6 weeks ago a one owner 906 Paso with about 4700km sold for NZ$6000.
There are currently 3 x Pasos listed on Trademe.co.nz ranging from NZ$4600 (for a 750) to NZ$7000 for a really nice 907.
There are 188 Ducatis listed, we have a saturated market, so the "odd" ones like a Paso do not have a good market value (a large percentage of Ducatis are used imports from Japan, in a wide variety of condition).

Like Frazer said there are normally heaps of Ducati's for sale. last time I looked there were 2 or 3 Pasos and about 6 851's. It's great when you want to buy but not so easy to sell.

I bought my 750 2 years ago in great condition with 23,000km for $4500nz and although there are guys with them listed for $5000 they don't sell quickly for that.

There are 851's in great condition with under 20k km for around the $9k and 916's for under $13k.

You can buy a 851 for the same as it would cost to do the rims and carbs on a paso.

On the hole I think bikes are a little cheaper in NZ then in Aus.

Like many of us when I started looking at the paso any Ducati would do. It wasn't untill I sorted its problems that the love realy started.

Have a look at these sites, they are all in Australia. The first two are for sale sites & the third it the valuation guide.
