Sorry....I got side-tracked after work on Monday and drove for 4 hours to get two sets of tires, then I played "hookie" from work yesterday and went on a 300 mile bike ride in the mountains of northern Georgia. I'll try my best to check the measurement of the rear wheel I have this evening.

...... I forgot to take the measurements, again. I'm sorry. I got involved in putting the front end back on my Harley. I thought about the measurements while putting the bike back together, but I then got side-tracked by our three year-old daughter. I'll get those measurements very soon.

I left the paper that I wrote them onto sitting on my work bench.

I'll call my wife in an hour or two and get her to read them to me over the phone......I'm such a slack-ass.



Edit - Here are the measurements if I did the conversions correctly for the '94 Supersport 900 rear wheel (4.5" width)..

1) Hub width with sprocket carrier installed - 206mm
2) Hub width without carrier - 171mm
3) '92 907 rear caliper bracket width - 35mm (Correction: it is 28mm wide, NOT 35mm....sorry)

I'd probably 1-2 mm difference because of the inch measurements and my conversions.

From what modell is that Your rear brake caliper holder, cause seem, that caliper will come UNDERside, not upper, like normally ???

I think, that if U dont have any space for spacers, then Your only problem will be chain line and it can be "modified" with different offset rear sprockets.... Ducati make manykind of different offset front sprockets and u can use also spacers in front sprocket to adjust chain line.... I havent read hole topic, so peg me pardon, if i talk something "shit" now...

If it is anything like my ST2, there should be a spacer between the sprocket carrier and the swingarm. The way the spacer is on the ST2, is that it adds less than 5mm to the overall width (probably more like 2mm - I do not have the spacer for the '94 SS900), but it correctly spreads the load of the axle tension between the sprocket carrier's inner bearing race and the side of the swingarm. On the ST2, the spacer is shaped like this....



In the 1992 907 parts schematic, it is listed as "Distance piece #71310321A". If you mount the spacer in backwards (the largest side next to the sprocket carrier), you will probably destroy the bearings in the sprocket carrier.

In your one picture, the wheel appears to be pretty well centered in the swingarm. If it is off to one side, you can shave some off of the caliper bracket to move the wheel to the brake side and add more of a spacer on the sprocket side. If you need to move the wheel toward the sprocket side, then you may need to remove some thickness in either the sprocket carrier or the spacer (which seems to be missing). I wouldn't do any alignment of the rear wheel until you have everything mounted to the bike. You need to check for alignment with the front wheel, not necessarily with the swingarm, so that the bike tracks correctly. Alignment of the sprockets should be easy to do with spacers if necessary, as Finnpaso states.

I believe you are correct that the bracket needs to be flipped over so the caliper is on the top side and that the bracket is closer to the swingarm where the pin is located to hold it in place.

I can take a measurement of the spacer on an ST2 wheel to see how much it projects from the sprocket carrier, if you need. The other measurements of the spacer would not be any good to you, as the axle diameter of the ST2 is 25mm, so the ID of the spacer and OD of the smaller side would be significantly different for a spacer for a 17mm axle. Gerhard, do you have a 907 spacer you can measure?

My ST2 spacer is just out of its place, so:

Thickness is 8,67mm(hahahahaha) from digital gauge.
Inner hole diameter is 30.05mm
Outer diameter from bigger end(to outside/swingarm side) is: 45.00 mm
Outer diameter from smaler end(to inside/wheel side) is: 35,50 mm (about)

Bearings will survive but more important, the spacer will wear into the swing &
carrier bolts will start to damage the inner of the swing!!! Very bad, FHE... .
Some spacer wheel bearing-swing should there be, I think.

Caliper bracket could be from f e a Monster. The long zero-shaped hole
in it should fit in the according nut in swing, inside the weld in font of axle, as in piero´s pic.

What size of the wheel and what bike is that & the caliper bracket from?
