88 paso limited trying to figure out the right parts puzzle

Post by Johnnie »

I'm going thru my recently acquired 88 limited, and of course the more I look the more I see. does this make sense to anyone...... front fender has a bracket on the top that attaches to the fender then to the forks my bike only has two ears attached (front) with a couple of possible homemade z bend steel brackets???? doesnt look right should.... the screws go thru the big attach bracket straight into the forks or have these z bend brackets thingamajigs in between??? the back part of the big bracket looks like it might have had the ears cut off??? it appears that the parts manual shows this part (037067220) they call it a guard??? item number two between the swingarm and the frame there is something missing on my bike??? probably a splash guard, does anyone know whats supposed to be there??? a piece of plastic or rubber????

There should be rubber splash guard in Pasos front/upper part of swingarm to "protect" shock from shit. You can make suitable very easily from 3mm rubber plate... very usefull and easy to make such...... :smoke:

Johnnie,

Get a photobucket.com account and upload pictures to there. Once uploaded you can use the links for each pic to be pasted into your posts so that we can try to see what you're describing. It's really easy and will help a lot!

I cant believe I got this picture link to post (computers are not my strong point)
this is a picture of my funky fender mounting, any input as to whats wrong or missing would be appreciated. P.S. is this bracket supposed to be black or the color of the bike
Thanks John

Those Z-brackets and the fender bracket appear to be custom items, and the fender doesn't look like a stock one. This is what the original fender and fender bracket should look like...

For those interested the fender on my 88 turned out to be a kawasaki unit off of a late 80s 600 ninja, it actually was a kinda close match and in a pinch and a little more skill making the attach brackets would make a pretty passable substitute, personally I could'nt have faced any fellow duc owners with a kawasaki fender on my bike
