Öhlins rear shock dimensions / Sachs fitment?

Post by fasterdammit »

I was just curious if anyone knew the exact model number of the adjustable rear Öhlins unit for an '88 Paso 750, and/or could tell me its dimensions (mounting eyelet distance, operational weight range, etc - anything).

Mine needs some real quality time on the bench, but in the meantime - I have a spare Sachs-Boge unit off a late-90s SuperSport (or possibly a Monster) that's sitting around idly. I haven't compared the two side-by-side yet, but I figured I'd check teh innernet to see if anybody could give me any details on either shock.

I guess the ultimate question is, has anybody tried replacing the Öhlins unit with a Sachs? I realize I'll lose the remote adjuster, but I'm only riding solo lately, so I'm not real concerned about it. And it's only a hold-over while the Öhlins unit pays a visit to somebody's bench in Middletown. :)
Just because you're not dead doesn't necessarily mean you're living, either.

I guess the SS shock will be to short. The Paso shock is 365mm (eye to eye).
