907IE fuel pump info

I get from USA some info about 907 fuel pump "as a spare part" to fit 907IE, so here it is:

But specifically, the BOSCH pump is the one I found to work most successfully, part number 0 580 463 999. It is smaller in diameter then the OEM Weber so packing material must be used to insulate and fix the pump in the factory rubber and plastic bottom bracket. I used butal rubber packing from a water irrigation compression fitting found at a lawn and garden center. I researched the compound through the manufacturer and learned that this material is highly resiliant to fuels so deterioration will not be a problem. The new Bosch pump, rated at 3 bar (46 psi) is more efficient then the stock Weber. It's smaller, queiter and much less expensive. My USA cost was about $70.00 with a sock or gauze strainer fitting, all purchased separately from Bosch throu a local auto parts store. Hope this helps, Steve"

Do you have the name/phone number of the parts store you used? Parts America (the only place I could find it) wants over $300 for the same pump.

I picked up the same pump about 2 years ago for $AUD200.00

the place I got it from was just a lawn mower shop / Bosch distributor and really didn't know much other than to order the unit in for me...
I think the $70 you paid is a steal!!! Lucky boy...

The unit I got didn't have the gauze strainer.
I clamped some fine cotton cloth over the end and it works OK.
I'd like to get one as it would be a better arrangement than what I have - was there a part number for the strainer?

one more question - does the strainer have the fitting for the degassator?

i am the guy that added that bosch p/n to the parts reference site...
it was recommended to me thru another web based ducati forum(dont remember now)but it was a direct fit and didnt require any material to make it fit in the brackets...
still running in my 907(as of last nite , been in there since 2003 i think..cost me 171.99 back then.

however if you can find it because i recently searched it and it was discontinued(so maybe the new p/n is smaller diameter?)

i am at work but i have another fuel pump p/n(on the home computer) thats supposed to work as well and it too requires a sheath to make it fit...

if anyone needs that p/n i will gladly post it up this weekend...

Good, if You find some another ordering number to add here! Anyway i think, that we all are satisfied about Bosch ordering numbers, because that is most important and its quite easy to make right fitting to put fuel pump to its bracket inside tank. Btw, i am recoating inside of my 907 fuel tank with 2 compound sealers(POR-15) close times and i take my fuel pump away....I did that one year ago to my 750 Pasos tank and i am 100% satisfied to results ....

Okay. Here's the scoop on fuel pumps for the 907i.e. (and maybe other models) While the BOSCH part number is o 580 463 999, I found ths pump through Car Quest, p/n FP 69117. The sock or strainer made to fit is FS141.

According to http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech/fuel-pump-install.shtm, NAPA part number 2P74095, or Advance Auto Part Number E-2042, are each the same pump.

In my research today, Ford's cheapest replacement fuel pump for any of their range including Mustang is $265 (although my dealer had none in stock to show me). Like I've said all along the Bosch works fine with only some improvisional packing required to take up difference in the smaller diameter Bosch verses the oem Weber. If you are familiar with irrigation pvc piping, visit your Ace or similar hardware store and buy a 2" pvc compression fitting with two rubber packing sleeves. This material will stand up very well to fuel. These are a little too large to tightly slip over the Bosch and tuck into the oem rubber lined tank mount, simply cut them in a long diagonal taper and wind both around the Bosch and push fit into the rubber-lined oem mount, slip the sock onto the inlet (bottom) while all is removed from the tank. The outer plastic oem mount snap fits into the steel bracket hard mounted to the bottom of the tank. Then , do the wiring and you're good to go. All for under $80 including sock and ACE! Besure to ALWAYS ASK FOR THE DISCOUNT when auto parts shopping. Car Quest gives two prices for the pump on my receipt, list = $150.74, net=$64.25. I paid net!

Hi everybody.
Antti led me to you all from the ducati.ms forums, so I decided to join here and save him having to resend my information (on fuel pumps and anything else I can help with).

My 907 is a '91, red of course (black didn't appear in the US until '92). I've had it from new with 42,000 miles now. It's in good condition with lots of affection having been spent on it.

Historically, I had to replace the exhaust valve guides at about 25,000 miles and did a top end at the same time. I've been through three regulators and just recently the fuel pump went to lunch. A few years ago I stipped off the body work and took it to racing school, but most of the time it's been babied.

I put a carbon 2 into 1 exhaust, stage one chip, Euro taillight and switch and Corbin seat on from new and it's treated me very well. I've had or have over 30 bikes since '91 and the 907 remains a favorite and one that my wife has forbidden be to ever sell.

this info has some of the same numbers as Steve has given us
when i had to replace mine back in 2003 the 0 580 463 999 was a direct fit replacement
but i guess the bmw number is the smaller diameter?

Substitute Part:
Bill Z. identified an immersible electric fuel pump that, while not nearly as large as the stock, Bosch unit, will perform satisfactorily. His installation has 100,000 miles on it. Others, including Rick Landi have done the same installation. Rick's bike has 30,000 miles since this replacement as of this writing. I just completed the same project six days ago and now have 600 miles on the bike with no problems.
