I stumbled across these auctions on eBay for turn signal lenses. They are new and in the box and are presently at $81.00 EACH!!!!.....The thing is, when I give the part numbers to my local Ducati dealer, they say that the lenses are still available and only $6.60 each. Do these bidders know something that my dealer doesn't?
I was wondering about that, too. These parts are still available and some internet shops that sell Duc parts have them listed being one of the few Paso spare parts they have.
There`s a german seller selling the lenses + reflector and he`s selling them for a price quite a bit lower than this. It seems to me that numerous owners of older bikes think that about every spare part is hard to get from the Duc dealer. So they just pay whatever they think the part is worth. I`ve bought original mirrors for less than that
Ouch.....The one lens sold for $100 plus $5 shipping and the other sold for $102.50 plus $5 shipping. I ordered two of each at $6.60. If they are still available, I should have them in a week or two. Maybe I'll put two of them on eBay, and do that every week, and see if I can pay off my house in a few months.
Somebody should do something to stop these bastards ripping people off with these still-available plastic lenses, and to stop them from cornering the market. Is it possible to post notices on these ebay auctions to warn the customers?
Turn signal lenses have been going for 60+ on ebay for a long time. i saw the ebay listing its not like it was listed as a rare or discontinues item. Some items go for more than what they should some alot less but thats how ebay works. Never know whats going to sell high. How can you rip someone off in an auction? if the item is described accurately its impossible.
so your saying any seller on ebay needs to research their item and put in their description everywhere you can buy the item and for how much? thats the responsibility of a buyer not a seller. i dont think i have ever seen any ducati parts on ebay that says dont bid over this amount because you can order if from ducati. if people on here are upset from this why wasnt there a post before when i have seen lenses go for 60-70 dollars?
This is the first I've heard of it, and I've made my feelings clear.
A fair seller would advise about the general availability of an item in a specialist market, and the usual price, rather than playing on people's lack of knowlege to make an outrageous profit.

Skins,
he isn't a mafioso, because he couldn't know how would much have been raised the price.
Neither, he forced the bidders to put their bids.
If the auction would have been closed at $. 10, we couldn't tell anything.
I wonder, he is far from a dealer or more probably, he isn't a ducatipaso.org member .

It might be the kind of thing a mafioso bambino would do.
Ebay would probably do nothing if we reported it. Maybe the best thing we could do is buy one of the lenses then give bad feedback telling what he is doing.
* HINT - It is the same seller, and.....I kinda can't blame him.
The four I ordered a couple of weeks ago still haven't come in, but I haven't been told that they are discontinued, either. I'll just have to wait and see if they arrive. At these ridiculous prices, a person would be better off buying a complete, new, aftermarket mirror assembly as listed in another thread in the classified section here.
