This is some good information on the USD fork conversion. I have a front end from a '94 SS900CR that I am thinking of putting onto another Paso frame/body that I have. The forks are also ones that do not have any adjustments on the top cap. Also, if using early 90's SS750/SS900 bars, they mount to the forks under the top triple clamp, so the additional 25mm that you had machined would not be necessary with those early SS bars.
How did you mount the Monster lower triple clamp to the frame? Did you have to have the Paso's steering stem pressed into the Monster lower triple clamp to use the Paso's steering stem bearings, or did you locate some new bearings of the correct size or machine down the Monster's stem? I think the Paso steering stem is 25mm in diameter and the Monster's is 26mm or 27mm where it goes through the bearings.

Terry, actually it will be necessary if you don`t want to change front end geometry. The fork is shorter and if the SS bars are mounted as on pompones bike it should be even more than 25mm to get to the same length as the Paso fork (meaning the length from bottom end of fork to upper edge of triple clamp. The offset is smaller too with the Monster triple clamps. So handling will be definetely changed (don`t know how though)they mount to the forks under the top triple clamp, so the additional 25mm that you had machined would not be necessary with those early SS bars.

I took it to be that he added 75mm to match the length of the Paso forks, but added an additional 25mm (100mm total extension) so he could mount the bars above the triple clamp.paso750 wrote:Terry, actually it will be necessary if you don`t want to change front end geometry. I've been curious about this, also, especially the offsets that are on '93-'98 SuperSport forks and how differently the bike may handle......I'm still thinking about this USD fork conversion with that ST4-916 engine that I recently picked up as a future Paso project. :lick:paso750 wrote:The offset is smaller too with the Monster triple clamps. Demon, 25 mm extra are for mounting the handlebars, if you mounted a handlebars under the clamp you don't need them. But I tried to mount a pair of SS 95' steel handlebars and it wasn't good idea because they collide with the tank, because of it I choosed the GSXR handlebars. In the Suzuki they are mounted under the clamp but I mounted them upper. The diameter is th same and you only need to screw.
To mount the triple clamp I pressed the steering tube of a Paso with the Paso bearings on a Monster clamp, like you say. By this way you haven't got bearigs problems.

Re: Paso tires one more time.
What mods were made to fit the tires to the bike? Does anyone have fork seal interchange numbers for m1 forks? New Paso owner needs any info on replacement parts or any info to keep my scoot on the road. Lucky enough to find a clean low mileage 87 750 Paso. Thanks.

Re: Paso tires one more time.
Has anyone tried the Avon Azaro tires yet?
They seem to have the correct sizes 130/70-16 front and 150/80-16 rear.
I loved the Azaro tires on my ST (when they made them) Heat up quick, always stick, and last a long time.

Re: Paso tires one more time.
I have to use an inner tube to install 150-80/16 on my rear wheel, and it is 5 inches.

Re: Paso tires one more time.
Hi pompone! Just one question...How do you pass the ITV ( Spanish vehicle inspection) with that size of tires? Im spanish as well, and every time i have to pass it,have to re-fit an old set of tires, and back to the new ones after it.
Re: Paso tires one more time.
I have to do the same. Is not possible to pass the ITV with this tires. You need a certificate of an engineer to modify the technical card of the Paso (anotar nuevas medidas en ficha tecnica).
I have two Pasos, and I'm working in a 17 wheels conversion. When I'll finish it I try to legalize it. I have a little experience because I legalized my XR 600 supermotard few years ago. I'll put photos and details of it.
Anyway, in my Paso 16, I'll prove 180-60-16 tire. The 150-80-16 tire is very thin and has very high profile. If you like to go fast it isn't a good solution.
If you have any question don't forget to send a PM.

Re: Paso tires one more time.
Thanks! Do you think the 180/60 16 will fit whitout any modifications? It may be too wide... I think i´ll go for the 150,I don´t drive that fast.
Anyway,I will try to legalize the new tires.I´m sick and tired of changing them every two years. But I don´t know what kind of engineer I will need...and how much money will it cost!
Thank you pompone.
