Very SIMPLE: You can get 100% more "PERFORMANCE" from 25 year compared to 50 year....

(... so Younger tires are much better, than old ones ...) I bought also one rear 16" Michelin some years ago, what was 3 years old and it was much harder, than new samekind tires.... I sold it for good price to such guy, who needeed it more than me. I dont know, in whatkind places those shops keep those tires, but surely not in dark (wine  ) celler, like i do....

Then again I don't ride like casey stoner.
You don`t have to. Just try to brake hard on a wet surface or also on a dry one and you will note the difference. But honestly, don`t do it.
Instead of buying old tires for large money you can use the 180/60 +130/70 Avon. The rear tire + spacers probably won`t cost more than 2 old Michelins from ebay.
Even if Avon/Cooper will start to make a 160/60 I`m sure this won`t be on the market before end of 2009. Probably even later considering they have to build a tooling, run tests, homologations, shipping time etc.
