FZ 750 headlight?

Post by Tamburinifan »

Is the Yama dual headlight an improvement in allumination or mostly a cosmetic modification?

Read tech info on how-to here but no real input if it`s a better headlight.

I would be interested to hear of someone's opinion between the two, also. I have the FZ headlight on my second project, but it'll be quite some time before I have it hooked up to test it out. I recall reading somewhere that it is supposed to be an upgrade for lighting purposes, but compared to the headlight on my '98 ST2, the Paso's stock headlight is a LOT better than the ST2.

I've thought about it on several occasions but just can't bring myself to spend $600-$800 on a lighting upgrade for a bike that is only valued around $4000. This is also the main reason I don't upgrade the suspension....I just can't bring myself to spend up to half the bike's value in upgrades that will not make the bike worth more.......

With the ST2 headlight, I just don't ride much in the dark and when I do, I let my wife lead and I actually space myself behind her so that I use HER bike's headlight when looking through curves in the mountains.

I replaced my headlight with fz750 about 3 weeks ago (the original dipped the wrong way for New Zealand)
I never rode much at night with the old one but I could light up both side by side on a dark night and give you my opinion  - have no way of measuring them
but it should give you an idea.

I had one for a brief period of time, installed with relays it's substantially better than stock. Double the wattage!

2 X 55/60W H4 bulbS is doubble compared to one H4, so wattage is then X 2........ Or did i missed something?

Btw, it doesnt mean so much in 750/906, but in 907 U have to be carefull with adding more wattages, cause near all current from 907s stator comes for turning injection stuffs.....

Which brand?
It seems to me a stock Paso headlight. The FZ ones we are talking about have double bulb.
So it has to be a CEV or a Koito.
As far as I know, the Koito were fitted on few 750s and less 907s.
I have both a CEV and a Koito (on the black 907) even if I have never still rode my black 907 on the night...
No matter, the Koito are better than CEV ones.
