Funny - I got myself involved in a very embarrassing situation with a Korean fellow named Kim. He did not see the humor in being mistaken for a woman. I'm somewhat familiar with the problem too, there seems to be more women named "Samantha" going by the name "Sam" then there are male "Sam"s. But more commonly I'm confused with animals - I've met more dogs named Sam than people.
