Motolectric Elefant Stiff/Start Upgrade Kit

Post by Mark »

Hello All,

I've had a few email exchanges with Michael H. from Dumbo Development Labs in connection with ordering the abovementioned kit for a Ducati Paso (http://www.elefantadventurebikes.com). Please see the last slightly revised email below for more info:

"Hi Mark,

...so a few more things in case you're going to make a case for the kit;

If you do get some guys together for a group buy the price would be less than the Elefant retail because I downloaded the owners manual and the Paso has its battery under the seat and not under the tank so I won't have to use special connectors like I will on a Monster or SS.

But we will need to find out the lengths from the:
- battery to the solenoid,
- solenoid to the starter, and
- ground point back to the negative of the battery.

It's pretty straightforward once we have those measurements.

And here's the overview of the benefits from the upgrade;
- reduces strain on the battery,
- improves battery charging,
- all electrical systems work better due to large ground plane between battery and engine,
- reduces strain on starter, and
- reduces stress on rider worrying the bike might not start.

Thanks, also that's quite a nice site you guys put together.

The kit costs USD75.- for Cagiva Elefants and from the email above I understand that Michael would be willing to give us a better deal.

Michael also has Motoelectric Elefant Headlight Upgrade Kits but I haven't inquired about this kit for a Paso yet.

Anybody else interested and can anybody answer his questions regarding the lengths mentioned above?

Cheers,

Mark
