906 Paso "Black" ... from Sicily!!

Post by Torello »

Hi guys,
my name is Torello, I'm sicilian, 31 y.o. and I live in a very small village on Etna very close to Catania... I was born in Catania and I experienced there for a while...
I'm sick of "Ducatite" infact in my box I have Super Sport 750 (1992) Pantah 600 (1981) Cagiva Elefant 900 (1998) and Paso 906 (1989)... I have had a Ducati 996... but is another story ;)
Well... I read this message and I decided, I sign up for forum... because my Paso is BLACK... the original colour was red... but now is not bad...

Ciao,
I'm giving some answers about my exhaust system and tires of my Ducati Paso 906 to Finnpaso...
The "pipes" come from Ducati SuperSport 900 suitably modified for Paso...
About the tires I'm using Pirelli Scorpion for front and Avon AV 72 (180-60-16    ) for rear...
Grazie a tutti... expecially to my cousin SimoneDesmo... I have to say THANKS SO MUCH to him because he helped me to have Ducati 906 Paso    !!!
Bye...

So that tire combination function in Your bike nicely ???? How about front tire dimensions? Are those tires still available? Any problems with them? As You maybe know, we have big problems to find new tires to Paso 16" wheels, so all advices about suitable combinations are really welcome to here. Here is huge number of discussions about that 16" tire problem and we havent solved it yet.... Thanks!

Btw, no any mafia connections?

Is a very big problem to find 16'' wheels tires. For front I think Pirelli is very good.. for rear is the first time with Avon AV 72 and at this moment I have a good feeling with Paso! When I finished the Pirelli I will try Avon for front but now I don't remember exatly the code tire... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Hi Torello,

great to finally meet someone using that tire size. I had posted that possibility longer time ago. I will also take the AV72 Cobra for the rear. Avon recommended me to use the Azaro AV45 (130/70-16) for the front as that will match better than ie a Venom as the profile is not that strong V-shaped.
Can you make some close-up pictures of the rear wheel, specially about clearance and what you did with the chain ?
That would be great.

grazie mille,

Gerhard

PS who is in the US and is fast can still get this tire on ebay. The Am42 is the predecessor of the Av72 which was released mid of last year.

Hi guys...
I confirm that the tire ( Avon AV 72 ) goes well, you can buy it! The chain has remained in original... touch a little bit the tire... but only at the beginning...

So, seems, that there is still some other tire possibilities for 16" wheels, so no need to convert yet to 17" :) Good job, guys  Propably my next 16" set will be same,as Gerhard mentioned...

There's no problem so bad that a little fixing can't make it worse! : )

Hi Torello.
Do you have, or could you take a couple pictures of the rear end of your bike so we can se the Avon AV 72 tyre clearance on both sides of the rea fork on your realy nice looking black PASO.
Kind regards
Klaus

there should be about 5-7mm clearance on the sides at 5mm on the front (if the excenters are in middle position, but as with other tires they should be adjusted a bit backwards)
AV72 180/60-16: diameter 630mm, width 182mm (measured on a MT5.00 rim),
If you remove the excenters draw a line from each excenter`s hole middle and then measure from the lines center to the front of the swingarm you`ll get ca 320mm.The swingarm width (measured at the weldings of the center section) is 198mm.

Hello,

now it seems that valuable information is under many topics here.

In 750 forum there is also good conversation of this rear tyre 180/60.

I have also Paso 906 (-89), and Torellos comments about putting on rear Avon 180/60 tyre, does not need any modifications.
This sounds great!

I have been banging my head to the wall when looking possibilities.

Hope to see those close pictures..?
