What was the UK list price of a 907 in 92?

Post by injected »

I'm interested to understand how much the 907 cost in relation to its Japanese and German competition at the time. Anyone know? I have searched and couldn't find anything on the topic here. Thanks

You'kk find there the price in Italian Lire.
The price was about L. 12.500.000 i.e. Euros 6.800.
The 907 was more expensive than a japanese bike.
Now, it the same thing.

In 1972 I paid 1800 for a shiney new cb750. A750 ss ducati went for 2100, a 900ss went for 2400 cb 750 in good shape may today bring 1800. A 900ss would start at 25000, a 750ss recently went for 100k. I paid 1000 for a 750gt in 1975.today you can't buy a 750 gt in a basket for less than 25k

Thanks Davo, that's really interesting - actually less of a price gap than I was expecting.

My bike appears to have been built for the US and then shipped to UK due to lack of American demand (temp in F, 55mph marked on Speedo).

Don't know of the "you kay" pound price but the 91 907 in Aus $ was $15000 compared to the Honda VFR 750 at $10000.
So it was basically another one third in dollar terms above the Honda. The testers at the time said it was worth the extra purely on character and ability to pick up women!!!!!! They did rate them as two of the best tourers available for the era and there were no great differences in abilities though they reckoned that the Ducati handled better and the Honda was smoother in operation and had better mirrors.. suprise, suprise.
Good call............
