What's the status on this bulk order?? Is this just some mean joke to mess with Paso owners!!?

We'll...gimme two pairs, front & rear!!!! :)

Take whatever your estimated order is and multiply it by 5!! Even easier, take the number of Paso members on this site; double it for potential non-members; and then quintuple that (5X) for anticipated orders. So # members X 10. If you keep those tires vacuum sealed (inert environment) and out of sunlight (no uv exposure), I'm guessing they could last potentially a decade....

I know Michelin lost a chance to sell me at least five sets, in as many years!!

Hey Higgy -

I noticed you started this thread with the title of "Want 16 inch tires? Sign up here"
and yet were the first to reply 1 minute later with "I'll take 2 as soon as they are available".

After re-reading the entire 4 pages of this thread it seems to
me to be a mystery as to who is tallying our requests for tires
in an attempt to lobby the manufacturer towards a production run.

Most importantly, Higgy, this is not a critique or an attempt to berate
your efforts, just a need for clarification. If there is anything I can do
to propel our case with the manufacturers I will gladly share the burden
of the torch. If there are any contact numbers or e-mail addresses
of manufacturers available send them my way for further lobbying.

I too want to believe in the "Paso Claus". . .

My impression is that J C Slocum, the moderator, has made some attempt to persuade the manufacturers. Haven't heard much lately though, as it's a time consuming and, no doubt, frustrating task.

J C, is there any news??
Make it a good day,

Many people tried to ask to manufacturers to build some new tires.
The investments are too high for the number of tires which could be sold.
The Michelin too has been asked to build some new tires, even if the A/M 59 are obsolete by now.
So, these attempts went failed.

See answer below received today from Avon about 160/60-16 tyres.

Perhaps Avon might reconsider if everyone phoned or sent an email to Peter J McNally at pmcnally@coopertire.com

Hi Geoff,
At the moment we have no plans to produce this size, sorry.

Thank you VERY much for your reply. You are the only tyre manufacturer to reply to such questions.

Is there any realistic possibility that you could produce a 160/60-16 rear tyre in the future? If so, what would be the minimum order quantity?
Owners of 750 and 906 Ducati Paso (and other) motorcycles worldwide now have no source of this tyre size and the fitting of an alternative size tyre is not practical due to clearance issues with the chain/swingarm.

Again, thanks for your reply.

Perhaps we should put a letter together to find out their minimum order requirements for a limited run tire and inquire as to the price per tire for such a run. just a thought

The reply below was received today from David Banks of Maxxis UK (david@maxxis.co.uk).

I have sent a reply asking for an indication of the number of tyres that need to be sold to cover the cost of a mould.

GT-UK

Dear Geoff,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We regret although there is demand for this size it is not sufficient to commercially cover tooling
costs for new moulds.

The only way this could possibly happen would be similar to the Vintage Owners Club
who have paid for the moulds with Dunlop to get tyres still made and then stock and sell
to their members. Perhaps this may be an option for the Ducati Owners Club to consider ?

Regards,

David Banks

What are the cost of this way?
