Paso 750 Decals
Hello all
I am interested in replicating the decal set (or parts thereof) for my '87 750.
If anyone could help with some hiRes photos of the decals on their bike or of an
unused decal set. I would be glad to print up extras in return of the favor. My Paso
has several other things I can spend $80 bucks on RATHER THAN ebayers selling a decal set.
I plan on using photoshop, a color laser printer and some vinyl signage material.
If I find that process unsatisfactory then I'll take it to a print shop where I'm sure
for $80 I'll get more than one set out of the deal.
UPDATE 6/19/08 4:20 pm
*************************
I understand about fading and to the benefit of my argument - I'll be printing more
than one set, simply because fading is inevitable - oxidization is unstoppable.
Come on guys - I'm sure somebody on this forum has the photobug.
Thanks

Re: Paso 750 Decals
It's really hard to print some really good decals.
If they were not good enough its colour will go faded quickly.
The ebay's ones aren't so expensive and someone here told they are good enough.

Re: Paso 750 Decals
I also hear they are as good as the factory decals and the price is reasonable. I plan to get a set for the repaint next winter

Re: Paso 750 Decals
Not as good as, but good enough.
I remember that a guy here told they are more little than the stock ones, even if it can be seen only from closer.
A friend of mine who bought the "blue limited" ones told me that the stripes have the colours (they are red, white and green) reversed as respect the stock ones.
But, if you want to paint the bike as stock, you can save the stock decals.
On the forum there is a thread about.

Re: Paso 750 Decals
"Saving the decals is possible if you are repainting the original color or something close. Prepair the the parts by wet sanding and go very easy on the decals. I used 1000 grid sandpaper on the decal sections. Use a good quality automotive masking tape like 3M to mask the decals. now, you have to very carefully cut around the decals with a very sharp razor. Try to keep the cut about 1 to 2 m.m. outside the decals. You can do this by using a magnifying head viser that jewelry and goldsmiths use and lots of light. So carefully go around the curves and corners by staying off about 1 to 2 m.m. A good masking tape will allow about 4 days for clean removal. So you only have about 4 days to spray and remove the masking tapes. To spray the color prepar the surface and clean up. Remeber that if you get the masking tapes wet by prepration solvents like silicone and was removers, you have to allow a little bit more time for masking tapes to dry. Now spray the color and remove the masking tape imediatley. You can spray clear coat after removal of the masking tape but you might leave an edge where the masking tape and the paint met. I did not spray the clear coat at this stage and after removal of the masking tapes I waited about couple of days for the paint to dry and wet sanded everything again with 1000 grid sandpaper. This way the decals edge created by the masking tape will blend and will not show any step."

Re: Paso 750 Decals
Lots of great advice flowing out of this post. My issue is that I received my Paso without any decals and I, as you can see from my photo, had to laboriously repair, sand and prime everything. So with the impending costs of painting looming in my future, I'm looking at ways to slow the flow of cash out the door on this Lady.
I have a lot of experience with graphics and printing so really I am only questing for quality digital images
to work with. Without these images I have nothing to work with. So to reiterate my original request - photos.
I'm not concerned with the stripes excessively - but as I'm writing I am realizing that I really do need photos
OR a scan of a decal set to get the reproducible quality necessary for a crisp, sharp printable image.
If you can provide photos or scans please include exact measurements in MM's or CM's please. This will
allow for correct scaling of the images. Color quality from photos can be corrected but glare from the sun, lights or a flash will be a problem. Like I've stated before I will gladly offer you a set of decals in exchange for your usable images.
Easy

Re: Paso 750 Decals
Hey Greg
That would be great. Do you have Adobe Photoshop? If so, you can save files to psd format. If your just using the camera's regular file format, probably jpg, that is fine as well. As far as file transfer via e-mail I know that hotmail will do up to a 10mb attachment.
Taking photographs in shaded or overcast weather may be better - to avoid "hot points" i.e. glare from sun or a flash. You'll just need to experiment. Get as close as possible and take multiple photos of each decal. Using a tripod will allow you to maintain correct angle and distance and will save you much frustration if you need to correct focus, change exposure or change white balance.
What is crucial is the measurements of each decal. This will allow me to correctly scale the images before printing.
You can send photos to my personal e-mail address:

I commend you in advance for your effort Greg!
Thanks,
Ethan a.k.a. Fredskidoo

Yes the girls there ARE quite good(looking)!
So no luck with the download.
Here is the URL that I have for it.
http://www.grish2.wer.pl/paso.rar
Give it a try. All I get is this:
Podany w zapytaniu URL /paso.rar nie został odnaleziony na tym serwerze.
So another route would be, if you have the patience, is
no greater than 10mb attachments via my e-mail address.
Thanks
