See the reply below received today from David Banks of Maxxis UK:
... Just talking in general terms –it is a well trodden path taken by people like
the Vintage Club and one or two private companies.
Maxxis do make private label tyres like all tyre manufacturers
I suspect one of the biggest problems would be minimum production
runs – can be as much as 1000pcs. depending on the tyre.
Ducati Owners Club may not even want to take on something of this size.
Just a suggestion – why not talk to the Vintage Club at Beaulieu – they do
handle tyres for modern classic bikes and are geared up for this kind of
commercial activity,
Regards,
David Banks ...
Does anyone have a contact at the Vintage Club at Beaulieu?

want 16 inch tires ?
Re: want 16 inch tires ?
Sure I would also like to get some 130 / 60 16 and 160 / 60 16 for my 906.
What I did not get so far: did anyone get an official answer from Michelin, that they are not going to produce these tires any time in the future? If not I would try to get an official statement from the company.
Thanks for your answer.

Hello Paso friends,
Following the answer I got from Michelin in January this year:
Unfortunately, we no longer manufacture sizes 130/60R16, 160/60R16. However, we will forward your information to our Marketing Department for future consideration.
Sincerely,
Alvin

Re: want 16 inch tires ?
If this proves not to be yet another rumor perhaps there may be tires made for the S model for it that will work? http://www.motorcycledaily.com/24july09_scoot_cati.htm

Re: want 16 inch tires ?
Of course I'll take a pair now, and then keep on buying 'em as I wear 'em out.
I wonder what set-up costs would look like; the next question being would we have to buy/store/sell/ship?, or would that be handled by the manufacturer (or possibly the Vintage club, if we could work with them)?

Re: want 16 inch tires ?
Maybe there could be one more chance with our tire problem.
Have a look to Gilera homepage.
The maxi scooter GT 800 uses 120/70 HR 16 on a 3.50-inch rim on the front.
The Paso has a 3.75-inch.
Michelin produces a Pilot Sport SC tire in the a.m. size.
I’ll gone check with my tire specialist if that could work.
Keep you informed.

Re: want 16 inch tires ?
Good news about front tire problem !!
The 120/70 HR 16 works on 3.75-inch rim.
Therefore I decided to go for it.
The result is much better then I was expecting !!
Easy handling and perfect feedback when breaking late into curves.
Good grip level and high lean angle. Very precise steering reactions as well.
No modification on fender or speedometer needed as the circumference is same as on the old tire.
Forget about the 130/60 R16 tire. There is no reason for me to go back. This new tire is just fantastic. My Paso got a real upgrade in terms of fun factor.
