Hydrogen fuel?
Hydrogen fuel?
I've been tossing the idea back & forth in my mind.
There are several systems that you can easily build to generate hydrogen & introduce it into the fuel line. basically a mason jar with an electrical current running thru a "teabag" full of baking soda, emersed in H2o. as the Hydrogen is being produced , it creates pressure in the jar. using a 1 way valve the hydrogen is attached to the fuel line.
Has anyone thought of this? looking for some pros & cons...
ie. will the cyls take it? Will the hydrogen expand in the tank, making it pop?.....
If this can be implamented, a fuel savings up to 80% can be achieved !
I looked into this for my pick up truck, then decided on an eletric motor conversion!
Solar panels on the roof of the cab & on the bed cover/shell.
It will be nice to not have to drop $80 per fill up!!!
With global warming, alt fuels & solar power.... Both of these ideas could be a GREAT business in the near future!
Regards,
Jay

I too am interested in hydrogen for bike and car BUT check out this hot
Swedish motorcycle girl Eva and her 1990 Cagiva Freccia C12R "ElectroCat".
Its an electric motorcycle. Here is a link to her page:

And the teaser . . .

Here is a link to her photo gallery showing the build process of the electrocat motorcycle.

The glasses are always sexy....
Unfortunately, no girl says the same for me, who also need them
I also am very interested in ZEV and am thinking to buy an ibryd car and put the photovoltaic panels on my home.
The problems with H2 are too much too, but some factory as BMW and Mercedes-Benz already did some prototypes.
Some factories (Honda and Aprilia) did some H2 mopeds too.
Here's the link. The website is in english too.

Btw, i check all those her fotos and i have to say, that her father(and surely she!) is real genius for those mods and he have very good tools to make allkind modifications, like lathe, etc.. and seems, that they have also TIME for such hobby... they are real pioneers! i stayed to think about performance ?.... Anyway very intresting...
About cars: I am looking low km Bi-Fuel(CNG/casoline) Volvo V70 for myself, as seems, that electirical cars are not yet ready for big markets, as seems, that battery tecnology is still too expensive....and firstly they offer small cars only to customers... maybe after 10 years that battery tecnology is enough cheap and all stuff start to work well.... btw, natural gas(CNG) coast about 50% what normal 95 octane fuel coast here in Finland and no need to pay any special taxes from bi-Fuel car, like have to pay from diesel car... ok, this is surely every countrys own policy, how government want to take taxes. Anyway whole world is going more to "green direction" and natural gas is then very good fuel, as result from exhaust pipe is only H2o => lower car taxes...

Re: Hydrogen fuel?
On next year, there will be available the Smart and (seems) a Citroen, both fully electric.
Unfortunately, they can do only about 150 km. with an electric charge, so that they are useful only for a city employment.
Here in Italy, they sold some fully electric scooter (Vectrix and others), some hybrid scooter (Piaggio MP3) and many electric bicycles.
Really, they cost much more than the normal ones, but there are many sales incentives.
I'm living no more in a big town, so I don't need them now, but if I had to come back in Rome I'd think seriously about an electric (or hybrid) scooter.
The Piaggio MP3 burns only 1 liter of gasoline for 60 kms.
Very interesting.

Re: Hydrogen fuel?
I was following a concept car from over here in Europe it did make our National News so i assume that it is genuine - there is a link here about them on here http://www.compressedairengine.com/ I also was following a few links from this link about someone building an air compressed motorcycle engine http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h ... CCQQ9QEwBg
We have also had several pretty neat looking bikes over here and our annual Isle of Man Road Races also have a Non petrol/diesel engined race series which has some pretty cool bikes entered.
As with anything like this the main problem is finding a system that can be standardised and means that when you get to Point B you can return to Point A the same way a just as quickly. Once that is sorted you can bet that the local Government will then find a way of adding some kind of tax and making it just as ineffective and as expensive as fossil fuels are now.
Mind you if the girls studying and creating the systems are as pretty as they seem to be I might stay interested

Re: Hydrogen fuel?
Nobody knows, but natural gas and liquid petrol gas (LPG) works GREAT on diesel engines, because of the higher number of octane.Finnpaso wrote: btw, natural gas(CNG) coast about 50% what normal 95 octane fuel coast here in Finland and no need to pay any special taxes from bi-Fuel car, like have to pay from diesel car... ok, this is surely every countrys own policy, how government want to take taxes. There are many experiments to make a diesel engine run with a mix of diesel fuel (25%) and gas (75%) but in Italy they're hardly out of law and are applied on special machines and some city bus

WOW! I didnt expect so many responces! GREAT, Im So happy to hear that so many of us are on the same page!
I think the obvious cure for the lack of range/charge. would be the sticky type of solar PV(photovoltaic)
It's basically a huge sticker ! It will be able to charge as you ride.. or stop @ the pub.
Also you can use recycled or disgarded car batteries as they only need to hold a charge for a short time... like 1 day...
I have several rolls on order from my friend who owns the company...
Thinking instead of puting 5 ridged modules on the roof &bed shell, Im going to wrap the entire truck with it!
As for waiting for the car companies to produce OUTRAGOUSLY priced vehicles upward of $20,000 us.
an electric motor can be bought for less than $3000, batteries have the potential of being FREE & around $2000 for the remaning components.... then the labor of removing the engine($300) I'm sure that the folke here on the forum have the ability to install the elec motor. So for around $6000(rounded up incase I missed something) you can convert your vehicle to electric.
Also waiting for the car companies, lets them have the control of what is produced for the masses. & sucking your blood. "Sheep go to heavin, Goats go to hell." well @ least I am a free thinking goat! LOL
Sory for the rant, I hate big business... as the only look out for themselves & take our money.
"wealth Never trickles down to the masses, it's only siphoned up from them" (unknown athur, I forgot)
rant out! LOLZ
