Paso 750 ignition switch & inner instrument dash panel

Post by fredskidoo »

I'm looking for a working ignition switch and that black panel that goes on the inside of the instrument cluster as well as a prefect clear cover for the instrument cluster.

Thanks
Ethan

As far as I know Ethan the dash/ instrument cluster was only ever available as an assembly . There was a brand new on on e-bay a couple of weeks ago , might still be there . I actually made a new lens for mine using perspex type stuff and sellies ultra clear araldite . ( some dickhead had spilt brake fluid on it ).......... ( not me ).I pulled my ignition sw apart and cleaned contacts and replaced the wires ( soldered new ones to the contacts ) , if you have a close look you may be lucky enough to find a broken wire , usually where the terminals are crimped on . Grab the wires and give em a good yank ( cant believe I said that :P ) because the copper strands inside can break leaving the plastic insulation intact , so a visual aint enough. If you are having intermitant problems with running and or starting , check also the integrity of the multi-pin plug to the right hand switch block ( on right side of frame , under tank ) good luck

Yup . . . I'm REALLY not excited about dis-assembling my ignition switch but for the love of the machine . . .

As far as the instrument cluster - what happened was the cluster's clear cover lifted off (broken tabs) at about 40 mph and the inner dash cover slipped out, just brushing my thigh, now forever lost to the roadside (believe me, I walked that stretch of road three times). So I was hoping someone had a spare floating 'round the garage - and just wishfully thinking I could score a perfect clear instrument cluster cover some how - some way - some day . . . :dunno:
