Side Stand + Tank key
Side Stand + Tank key
Hey guys,
Can someone with an US Paso post a photo of their side stand?
I want to modify an Euro one to stay down when the bike is upright.
The one I had in the US stayed down until pushed up.
Also, is there someone near Heidelberg (or elsewhere if necessary) that could help me
with a copy of the gas tank key? The prior owner lost the key and from what I understand
the Paso tank keys are interchangeable. Naturally I will pay for the key etc.
Thanks.

Hey,
I doubt the US sidestand is any different. There`re 2 possibilities to modify. Either cut/lower the side stand bolt or make a new plate

I had a tank cap with lock & key, not sure if I still have it though. Will check.
If the keys are interchangeable I don`t know. Could be, the steering lock keys of old Vespas were the same also.

The US stand stays down - at least it did on my Paso. My guess is that the side stand nut is different - doesn't protrude.
Thanks for the gas cap check.

Re: Side Stand + Tank key
found it. Maybe someone with a lockable tank cap can compare if it`s indeed the same for all. Mine is marked 030.

Re: Side Stand + Tank key
I`m in southern Germany. We can do the rest via pm. I guess beginning of next week I could have a copy made. If it doesn`t fit just send it back to me. I only have one key for the tank cap so I can use a second.

I`m afraid there are different keys. I sold this cap some time ago and the key says 171.
Did you try to go to a lock & key service with your cap ? Some can make a key if they have the lock.

Any Ducati side stand will fit. they all bolt onto the engine in the same place, and have the same bolt size and bolt spacing. Pick one you like the looks of.

Here are a couple sidestand shots in case you can still use them. I'm thinking you want a pic of a modified stand though. This is a stock condition 88 Limited. Some owners made a modification so the stand would stay down. I don't recall what the work involved was. I left mine as it was.
