New Conti's Arrived

Post by Fraser »

Hi All,

Have purchased some Conti mufflers from Italspares in Sydney Australia. Shipping was very prompt, they cost AU$250 and shipping was AU$65.

First saw these on eBay and contacted iangowanloch@bigpond.com who was the supplier. They have plenty of Conti muffler sets available (which normally retail for AU$480 a pair) which they are happy to supply at AU$250 a pair plus shipping.

All arrived nicely packaged, long trip; Italy, Australia, New Zealand.

Purpose made for Paso.

The real items.

My sort of baffeling!! Just like the last Conti I looked through off a 1974 750 Sport.

Will fit them soon and let you know how they sound.

Cheers,
Fraser.

When I first fitted these on my bike I was worried they would look a bit old for the lines of the Paso, but they looked great, sound great and they were quite good for setting off older car alarms !!!

Yet they are not much louder on the ear than the standard Silentiums, just a better tone

IMHO the deal you got was one of those that you can't really turn down!

Please post a Pic or two!

I'm looking at doing this to mine, have also seen those Conti racing cans made for the 750 Paso and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them...

Hi frazer

you mentioned that the contis are made for the paso....did you allready check if these contis fit....i am curious because i just read the "conti mufflers" thread in the 907 section (where some "fitting" problems were mentioned). Things may Be different with the 750, hence it would be interesting for the paso community to know.

Maybe anybody else has more information here.

Thanks for any input here and keep on riding, hardo

Hi Hardo,

Yes the Contis are fitted. They fitted exactly, very close and tucked up. Only needed to adjust the rear brake pedal position as it touched the muffler when you pressed down on the lever. This just ment adjusting the height of the brake pedal, which is easy, unless the adjuster has never been moved in 24 years and you snap the actuator rod trying to adjust it. Then it takes a couple of days while you get another one arranged.
Will post some photos shortly.
Cheers,
Fraser.

Right then, here are some photos.

Image

Just replaced the belts, replaced the oil seal behind the bottom cam pulley.

Image

Main stand tucks in nicely against the muffler.

Image

Fish tails for the old tractor, but sounds great.

So the Contis have a distinctive bark, not too deep but very unique. When I first started her up it took about 45 seconds for my neighbour to appear (he has an ST2) to see what the new sound was!

Cheers,

Fraser.

Hi Frazer

Thanks for the quick answer!

Sounds very good that they can be used without any larger changes....and they look good.

I ordered a pair too and they are already on their way via ship! It is almost winter anyway and hence I do not care if this will take 2 or 3 month.

anyway a long way - italia - australia - switzerland (in your case: new zealand) ......

all the best, Hardo

P.S. nice picture of your guzzi 850 T.... I like the moto guzzi bikes too: beside the paso I have two guzzis: a 1984 le mans III and a 1972 V7 850 GT - very nice bikes - but quite different compared to the 906 paso,,,,

Fraser

Please please please could you give me the name address, e-mail etc etc of your supplier because I am desperately looking for new pipes (Conti reps for my 907ie) I used to have Conti reps on my 750 (a million years ago and was thrilled with them). See the thread on 907ie section.

It looks like - assuming I can get my bike re-chipped - you've got exactly what I'm after

Best Regards
