no spark at the plugs
everything else is working - turning over, etc.
can anyone refer me to a systematic electrical diagnostic path to
trace the lack of spark problem?
EDIT:I have the 2 relays added per 750 Paso wiring upgrade.
No voltage at coils -
Ignition switch functions -
Starter switch cranks starter good -
I added 12 volts directly from the battery to the coils and fires right up using starter button.
While running I toggled the kill switch with no results. I don't know for sure if this is what normally happens when you run voltage directly to the coils.
With voltage to coils directly from the battery I unplugged starter/kill switch assembly and ran a jumper from yellow to orange on the junction to the starter/kill switch and bike fires right up.
I can feel both relays clicking each time the ignition switch is turned on.
Anyways -
Both orange coil wires return to the ignition module have no voltage.(Note: This doesn't seem to match the wiring upgrade's wiring - investigating further.)
I switched out the ignition modules and still no results.
Next I will try switching out the Regulator.
Please chime in - I'm here for your thoughts and opinions as well as solutions . . .

Yup - I agree Hig . . .higgy wrote:when did you get so friggin lazy you cant do a search? dude ya kill me![]()

I meant to edit my opening paragraph once I started adding to the original post . . .
Strangely I discovered that there is a modification involving two relays mounted just behind the head stock - both working in unison.
I found a broken orange wire at the coils and attached it to coils and she's up and running with no assisted voltage from the battery to the coils -
Sadly I shrink from electrical diagnostics, as do many.
My concern is that I may damage something in the electrical system by attaching that "extra" orange wire found at the coils.
Its my understanding that this wire is normally left unconnected.
Please cite me if I am wrong.
Heads up to Nicola for the live chat tech support !
Enjoy your new fairings brother !

Yup,every time when you wire the coils (on the correct side any way)directly to 12 volts you must break the connection This is what the kill switch will do for ya when it is wired normally

Sounds like you lost the voltage supply to the relays, what kinda relays you got ? I can send you a diagram to help you sort it out should not be to complicated, assuming you have not burned up your ignition switch...still fixable but a little more work

Re: No spark
Well its 4:30 here in California and sun is below the horizon and temp is dropping fast so I will pick up tomorrow - and get with you (Higgy) about where the orange wire that I used to power the coils is coming from.
I'm not sure if the volts should be coming from the regulator, through the ignition modules to the coils - because that is how things were when it wasn't starting i.e. no power to the orange coils wire.
Anyways - took a spin round the block and parked 'er for the night.
Thanks Higgy

TNX
I alwais try to help my brothers When I can...
The "extra" orange wire might be the one in the OEM wiring, while the upgrading has (maybe) a relay for every single coil.
Be sure that +12v runs out from relais and follow the additional wiring to the coils:
If the 12v comes out from the relais and does not arrive to the end of the line, teremust be something broken somewhere. Maybe a pair of additional fuses?

Re: No spark
You can find a copy of Jon's wiring mod here
http://ducatipaso.org/docs/general/electrics/
and a simple relay diagram is also here
http://ducatipaso.org/docs/general/elec ... RELAIS.JPG
should give you all the details you require to sort it out
keep in mind there are a few variations on how to do it

Re: No spark
one relay per coil wouldn`t make much sense if that is the case.

one is sufficient, two is actually detrimentalone relay per coil wouldn`t make much sense if that is the case.
