Spanner would be British for Wrench

There is actually a tool specifically called a spanner used on a certain kind of retainer ie a type of screw drive that consists of two holes in the screw head and two pins on the tool

a spanner is any nut or bolt undoing or tightening tool. open ended spanners. ring spanners. adjustable spanners etc etc. i believe the americans and some others call them wrenches.

Spanner is also the name of a certain type of penis implant used to sort out prostrate issues

and no I do not have experience with it,so far my equipment still works( head you off at the pass Mctool

) I once had a nieghbor who worked for a mill that made all sorts of impants,stents and spanners

But what all of you seem to have missed

it is also the tool you need to adjust the chain tensioners on a duke

here in Aus anything to do with mechanical things we call it spanner...unless you talk about plumbing stuff, then its a pipe wrench
