Could mean the electrodes to grow the bone so there is enough to pin together. Pins don't usually break if the bone is knitting correctly :,(

A long and very painful process

Talked with McTool in the weekend. He was at home and is booked in for surgery Monday/Tuesday. The solution will depend on what they actually find when the leg is opened up. I'll contact him later in the week and see how it all went.
Cheers,

Fraser.

Not the best x ray, but you may be able to see the pin is broken thru the top screw hole, other xrays , which I dont have a copy off at the moment show the pin is also displaced by the full width of the pin ( different angle ). Could'a done without it :) graft looks like shit too, but Im probly lucky that it broke when and where it did, dangerous things these motorbikes, if you can break your leg just watchin them on telly

McTool - Good luck knitting mate. Love the kiwi pic on you user profile thingy.

andreatoffali - for the 906 there are proven options for both 17in conversions and alternate tyres on the 16in rims. Best first to decide if you want to keep the original 16in wheels and the original look of the 16in wheels or if you are happy to spend the time (money) and effort to do the 17in wheel conversion. Both are good solutions I think but depend on what you are prepared to do and what you want to achieve.....

There is also the weld-up option.
Take off your wheels, send them out to make them 17", and re-install.
- same look as original
- No change to brakes, chainline, swingarm, etc.
- No mechanical knowledge or kludging necessary.
- $400 per wheel
- You get to pick your new rim widths, and hence, tire sizes.

Fast and easy, just spend money.
As with many things - Fast, easy, cheap - pick two.

To my knowledge, nobody on the forum has done this yet.
Don't know how your regulating body feels about this where you live.

I've never heard of wheels being welded up to increase size from 16" to 17" and would be every interested to learn more about this. Has anyone actually done it? got any pics? What size tyres would you then fit to ensure that chain/drivetrain/swingarm size issues dont impact? Will a 17" wheel and tyre fit a standard P750 swingarm without fouling. I thought a 907 swingarm was needed as part of the conversion?

Speaking of which i bought a 907 ie s/arm on eBay yesterday then did some more research on the website, only to realise it was a750/906 arm and not a 907 one as listed d'oh!! Still going up that steep Paso learning curve, mind you it has only been 2 weeks. Fortunately managed to contact the seller and sort out a refund before he had posted it out! Like they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing :)

just search the posts for "weld up, or weldup" and you'll find a bunch of posts. Kossman is the American company that is doing it. They cut off the old flanges, and mate up new flanges and weld them on. You can pick your rim width, and tire size so it will fit in the swingarm.

a little knowledge is a dangerous thing :)
Hence my tag line

Weldups have the advantage of no mods needed to the brakes other than maybe a set of line upgrades. There is a wide selection of tires of all widths, a careful selection would be needed to avoid the normal chain/swingarm issues. Pricing is around 1000 here, can't say down under. Is it a better solution than avons or shinkos, depends on your preferences  Someday, very soon I plan to have the time to explore all these possibilities and most decidedly will share my experience., whether it be :banghead: or
