Avon Azaro on 750

Post by 88WhitePaso750 »

I just completed putting the Avon Azaro tires recommended by Ducati Germany on my bike. I now need to lengthen my chain by one link. I have 2 master links but a desperately need the inside or roller link portion on the chain to make this work. My chain is a DID 520 Xring. Does anyone out there have, or know where to get a roller link for a 520?

This is compounded by the fact that I bought a longer chain when I replaced it last year. The extra links found their way to the trash can. I am so bummed that I did not keep them.

Anyway, any suggestions or help in appreciated.

The motorcycle super store can sell you a link and the tool to rivot it in
about 10usd for the link and 100 for the tool
Maybe a local shop has the tool and will do the link for you.

I have a couple breakers / rivet tools. I looked my motorcycle super store and see only master links (pins only), I have not seen any internal or roller links. In a gold chain, the gold is the outer pieces or sides, the internal pieces or roller links are typically black and are the pieces that I need. I have additional master links, but can not put 2 of them together without the internal piece.

I hope this is clear.

If it is a half link you need try Tsubaki or a local industrial chain supply house like McMaster Carr.
You may also ask around your local dirt bike shop

I already have a master link and I do not need a half link. I need the center roller section of the chain, not the sideplate. Looks like I'll have to buy a DID roller chain and break it to get a roller link in order to put 2 master links together.

Let me ask this another way. Does anyone out there have any short pieces of DID 520 Xring chain laying around that you could part with. I only need 2 links, I am not interested in master links or half links, I am looking for a couple links that have been cut from a chain to shorten it.

Any, and all help is GREATLY appreciated.

WHY NOT BUY A CHAIN WITH AN EXTRA LINK? OR THE BETTER TWO LINKS? YOUR MYSTIFYING ME!

Half links (also known as offsets) are available and are used to increase the length of the chain by a single roller.
