New to this forum!

Post by paso88 »

Just picked up an 88 Paso 750 with original road course mufflers still on it. was told the engine has been swapped form a 2000 Monster. Currently in the shop for a check up.....Not sure if it is a limted but from what I have read it might be. Question I have is, does the fuel pump always make a clicking sound when the key is turned on? Thanks in advance.....NEW to Ducati :)

I would not call it a click, but for sure there is a distinctive sound

Thanks for the reply Higgy! It is in the shop now and I told my mechanic about that noise....wasn't sure if it was normal or not. From your reply I guess it is normal to hear that from now on..............

Paso88,

It might sound more like "ticking", as in a giant bomb, counting down, starting fast then slowing down.
You will get to know it well. Welcome to the world of Ducati.
Cheers,

Fraser.

yes, sort of like wind up clock backwards if that makes sense

last 2 to 3 seconds getting quieter as the pressure increases. I think if I have time later today I can make a recording of it if that would help :?:

the 750 the 906 and the 907 each have the sound just slightly different for each model

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input on this matter. Time to call my mechanic and tell him that it is normal for it to tick away........thought at first it was a spark plug firing on its own without the engine running. That's what it sounded like till I pulled off the left side fairing and put my ear to the iline fuel pump. Weird man.....just weird! Thanks again!!!!!!

What you're hearing is the "key on" reminder.

Ahead of it's time for an 88 bike wouldn't you say?
