Luca,

Many thanks for your response too!

I have, previously, read some of your previous postings and it is all interesting stuff and I will ensure that I check that everything is standard and that the transmission is 'in line'!

As per my previous posting I have already begun to strip the bike and have yet to, thoroughly, assess the damage and I have already phsyched myself up to expect the worst case scenario possible, (then if things are not quite as bad then things are looking up)!

I have already had two, (local), offers for the re-welding and I fully appreciate the need to find a piece of Paso crankcase for 'testing' purposes - else what started as a 2cm x 1cm gap soon becomes a 20cm x 10cm write off!

Once I have convinced MS Frontpage 2003 to publish my web site, (correctly), I will post a regular diary so that you can all experience the emotions, (that I am sure to experience), during the forthcoming restoration!

And I am sure that I will have many further questions to put to the group, (such as how the dash is supposed to be mounted - as mine is just a 'push fit' between a framework of foam rubber and that can't be right)!

I may attempt to remove the engine, tomorrow, as I am not due to return to work untill Wednesday, and I am hoping that I will not have to cut anything else off in order to get it out!

Was in your 'neck of the woods', (four weeks ago), as Julie and I visited Rome, (for the first time), but did not have time to visit Bologna on this particular occasion!

Take care and ride safely!

I think that your "rebuild diary" is a great idea and I'm looking forward to see it as soon as you start your work! :lick:

Bye!

Hey Martin,

I checked out your web Site & was pretty impressed with it. I enjoyed (& cringed a bit ) reading of your French expedition, definately on of the worst holidays I have read about.

So what happened to your 916? I gather it was totalled but you are a bit short on details.

Good site

Luca,

Very interested to see your valiant attempts at repairing your particular leak but I suspect that it never sealed correctly and you went for your Monster engine?

Redpaso,

Thanks for taking the time to look at my web site. Unfortunately, it is far from what I would like it to be but I just haven't got the time to work on it that much!

I have just managed to get MS Frontpage 2003 to talk to my Web Site Hosting Server, (what a nightmare), and I have changed things around a little, (still not happy with the navigation buttons), but I will spend some more time on it later!

I have, however, started a 'Paso' diary, (but it is very crude at this point in time), and there are a few pictures for you to peruse at your leisure! I will attempt to provide a suitable narration to accompany the pictures and I will, obviously, provide suitable accounts of the 'highs' and 'lows' - although I would expect there to be quite a few 'lows' now that I have the engine out, (and sitting in our wheelbarrow)!

Tempus Fugit !

My son heads off to Thailand, (this weekend), as he will be teaching at a school, for a year, before returning to University, (hopefully), and I am back at work tomorrow, (dreading to think about what will be waiting for me), I have a presentation to create, (for a conference in three weeks time), and a half marathon to run the week after next!

If that is not enough I flew my first 'solo' last Sunday, (in a Robinson R22 Helicopter), so I will now have to get studying to pass my remaining aviation exams - and I have a motorcycle to refurbish too!

Will attempt to improve site ASAP but will post brief account, (with pictures), so you can see what I am up against!

Does anybody know whether a car engine stand, (the one where you can rotate the engine 360 degrees), is of any use for Ducati engines? They are only £30 and may prove to be useful but if the crankcases are split I doubt whether there will be anything to bolt the, (remaining bits of the), engine to the stand?

Otherwise it will just sit on my workbench!

Take care.
