That's actually the battery for my 750-F1 there on the floor. It was cold as hell and har forgotten to take it out becasue it requires removal of the body work. I pulled the week before and carried it in and was quickly asked to do something else, so I set it by the 250. It now in the shop on the tender rack with it's other battery buddies.

NO tools in there, I have a shop for that. Just keeping her in where it's warm and can be seen and admired.

Every time I seem to have enough money to build a garage, I buy another bike. My living room is no more....neither is the spare room adjacent to it....

Many people don't believe it, but there are absolutely no gasoline fumes in the house. The only time I did was when I had a split accelerator pump diaphragm on the Harley and it dripped gas under the bike. It did give me motivation to repair it as soon as I could.

Same with mine... i only have to empty the carburators before moving the bikes inside.

always open the windows,doors etc for ventilation purposes when ever possible and cover tables chairs pianos and floors in cardboard to protect them from tools and fluids,

Ok, after much hijacking of my original post, I have finally managed to get a few photos up in the bucket of my Darmah. She was in a pretty bad state when I picked her up and unfortunately hasnt had too much done, (that is viewable anyway) to date.

What has been done so far is :- Exhaust - Scrapped
Rear shocks - scrapped
Panels & tank - off for new paint (secured a good example original steel tank and have that being done at the same time)
Brake calipers (all of them) - off the bike, fully restored with new parts, stripped and repainted
New headlight shell/reflector/glass purchased
Instrument panel - stripped, repainted (including the carrier)
Switch blocks - both replaced with new
Instruments - new shiney NOS binnacles for both tacho and speedo (may even replace the guages as well since I have a source)
New front mudguard
Resurrected the rear mudgard, both look good but not concorse
Engine - delivered to the Bevel Guru for a full checkup and replacement of whatever needs replacing. Valve seats hardened to start with.....and anything else he thinks needs doing. (I havent a budget for the motor so anything goes at this stage).
Carbs - original 32mms need rebuilding, sourced a set or 40's which are on their way to my house.
Indicator stems and lights - replaced all lights, stripped and repainted the stems, new chrome bits
Idiot light carrier - stripped to bare metal, repainted
Some other bits and pieces......everything was rusted, so just soaking in WD40 and freeing up threads has been a major problem so far.

Anyway, photos are pre-anything being done so dont be too harsh.

Right mirror refused to leave the thread so managed to slap that and almost ruin the brake master cylinder - more $$$'s.

Guages and brackets in bad shape, but NOS parts are plentiful if you know the right people.

The rest I will leave up to your imagination.




You can see the condition of the exhaust in this photo...the Conti's are shot and the headers and crossovers are not much better.

Chrome is no longer.

Dont know how much I have spent so far, but I know it will be worth in when she is back on the road with a new, full Conti system barking in the mountain roads around Canberra.

Photos of the brake calipers, not in the best of condition when I picked up the old girl.


Rear caliper found its way from an "SS" somehow. Traded it for a new P08. (Whats that in the background????)


Front right looks pretty mankie, but not as bad as the left as it turned out.
One bleed nipple was broken off and was a bugger to get out. Both caliper internals were binned and with new pistons, seals, bleed nipples and rubbers installed.



Completed calipers to follow.

Looks like a project that requires quite a bit of TLC and money thrown at it. I bet it'll be a sweet ride when you go through it. I wouldn't mind finding something like that to work on....except for the lack of money and time.

I wish you luck in restoring it.

the old duc needs a lot of work...start with the bare frame and with a lot of TLC you'll end up with a nice bevel drive classic

PS...first pic, top of frame...the good old aussie milk crate, someone should write a book...
