Re: CALLING RHINO>>>>TOOLKIT FOR SALE
Thanks Pasonut, Mc Tool et al.
It's never a question of how much it's worth - it's always question of how much will someone pay for it.
I bought my 907ie for well over £3,000 which is about triple the current UK price for one. But it was "right", it was what I wanted, and so I bought it.
Sadly it had no toolkit, handbook or workshop manual, and I like my machines to be complete. (I like to pass my machines on in the state I would have liked to have found them.) To achieve this I will pay whatever I deem necessary.
In this case the toolkit was the last item. My upper bid limit for the toolkit was set at £350. And trust me, If I had lost that toolkit to another bidder, and if I had had to buy another 907ie to get one, then that is what I would have done. Frankly £90 for a complete, unused, 20 year old piece of original equipment is a bargain.
Let me put that in perspective. I wanted a perfect, complete and low mileage 907ie. Now I've got one. No I don't care that I spent far more than market value. It pleases me and that is sufficient. Worse than that. I am happy in the knowledge that there is at least one 907ie out there (hopefully more) that is as good - if not better - than it left the factory. And yes I want two more Ducatis to complete my garage (maybe three - still unsure about the 750 Sport) and I have already started buying toolkits and manuals.
Do please take the mick - every club NEEDS an idiot like me. Every club needs a guy who knows EVERY tiny technical detail (two of you spring to mind here), every club needs a loveable nutter (one kiwi springs to mind) every club needs a bore. OK - so I'm the anal collector.
And guys - let's be honest - while the quality of the toolkit is crap - it was only £90; - Damn, my wife and I drink that on any Saturday night. And remember, we're all Pasoholics, we just like different drinks !!
Besides - I have a real toolkit - it's called a Visa card !!!!!

Re: CALLING RHINO>>>>TOOLKIT FOR SALE
I think we everybody know how much we spend on our bikes to keep them in good shape.
I guess most of us have spent more than the price of the bike.
So, I'm with Rhino (even if the toolkit is a crap).
I'm like him: my two bikes went with the toolkit, but the black one went without the user manual.
I HAVE BOUGHT IT.
Did'nt pay a fortune (20/25 €. if I well remember), but I bought it although I already had one.
Ciao

yanno, Ducati brought out limited-edition 907ie tyre valve stem thread cleaner (which I have the ONLY one in the world) and I'd be willing to part with for a minor fortune...

Re: CALLING RHINO>>>>TOOLKIT FOR SALE
Love it Gerhard - but my next bike will probably be a 999 or 999s - a late, deep sump, model and BLACK.
When I can find the time and money that is - probably won't be for 12 - 18 months - I'll let everyone know. Suffice it to say I've started collecting Workshop manuals, toolkits etc etc.

I would get a 2004 749R, for me the the most advanced road racer ever made by Ducati for "normal" people .Rhino wrote:Love it Gerhard - but my next bike will probably be a 999 or 999s - a late, deep sump, model and BLACK.

compared to the other 749s, the R version was lighter, had a shorter stroke, increased bore, larger Titanium valves, a larger tank, slipper clutch, Öhlins forks, shock and steering damper, racing camshafts, Titanium connecting rods, magnesium head covers, carbon fiber belt covers and carbon fiber fairings.
Unfortunately the 999 (standard, S, R) was far away from the sophistication of the 749R, so for me it is less of a value.
As for the Toolkit.... I was sure you would get it.
I followed the auction because I actually though of purchasing it.
I already have one but the one on Ebay is "new" and complete (mine is missing something and has been VERY well used....), then I though that there was someone out there wanting one "really badly" , so I did not participate to the bidding.
I truly understand what you are saying... I flew from the UK to Italy to get my 907ie.... I wanted a first Series (frame# 315) RED 907ie with registration tag from the Bologna county (BO-xxxx where BO stands for BOLOGNA)
