When i changed from the original regulator on my paso i was left with 2 green wires a red wire and a pink wire. ....what are these for? anyone!
does the pink have to be grounded for the bike to charge? is this the batt charge light?
all these wires are left in the original conector left side-open.
also when i tried the wiring upgrade i was only half succesful-the coil end didnt work for me.
ive noticed avatars photos were intresting as the block showed one red on top(same)a brown(where my black is)another brown underneath(mine is red)and so are the blocks different? as wires must be different for each persons bike.
my bike was okay to ride home after my crash as the dash lit up-but now i come to try it no dash lights or ignition.
now another funny thing the engine WILL try to turn over with kill switch off!!! still no dash lights though.
HEELLLP!

Re: regs and wires
Dave, did you have a look at the wiring plan ?
The two green wires are the ones that come from the alternator, as does the red one. The pink wires is for the batt. charging light. I wonder how your new regulator works if these wires are still unused ?!
Do not ground the batt. charging light if it is unused !
I`m not sure I understand your comments about the coil wiring.
It is actually very easy.

My guess is what you describe as brown are the discoloured orange wires.
I must admit that at the moment I`m not sure if it`s normal that the starter motor runs also with kill switch on OFF as what it mainly does is kill the ignition. (cut the 12V to the coils)
Does your headlight and taillight work ?

hi g! thanx for reply but you have misunderstood the first part completely! i am talking of the connector block of the old regulator (if you took off the regulator the snap on block leaves these wires simple!)
I read somewhere on another forum to ground the leftover pink wire as this was the charge light (the rr51 reg says its white.)
my alternator wires are two yellow one red and didnt work when wired up as the instructions said in the rr51 instructions so i wired them up as yellow to yellow red open taped off(as it states that the alternator must be wound differently if it doesnt charge as 3 phase)
i havent mentioned the coils at all?
the bike went well for a year then just stopped charging again someone is using a z600 reg in wales but i want to use a mosfet r1. when or if i ever get the bike working again.
my main concern is the lights not coming on the horn dont work but on kill switch the bike turns over (STRANGE!) ive never known a bikes electrics so difficult
the battery
