I've had the bits to do this for ages but just got round to it as it seems to be the Fatbikes year for being spoilt.
My rear brake kept overheating(fluid boiling?) when I was 2up in twisty hills in Italy a couple of years ago. A bit scary as I was going into hairpins not sure if it was going to work. Hopefully this easy mod will prevent that from happening again. Got the bits from a breaker, The mount's from an SS and just needed the anchor slot filing out a bit, the hose is a clutch line.

Do you really use the rear brake for braking so hard?
I only it for stabilizing the bike in tight corners & keeping the rear wheel from lifting when braking hard...

I was going to ask the same...

I never use the read brake in fact I have never changed the rear pads in 11 years I have my 907.

1 real good mod that should be done is a sort of mechanical a"antihopping" systems that helps keeping the rear wheel in contact with the tarmac when bracking really hard and on ducati bikes is found only in some 851s (very early versions) and on the 900 SUPERLIGHT

Basically is a floating rear caliper bracket connected with a strut to the cranck case that when you brake the rear wheel it helps maintaining wheel contact when braking hard with the front.

streetfighter, where´s the difference to the original brake other than it`s mounted upside down ?
The caliper is the same isn`t it ?

I was using a lot of rear brake as I had a blown fork seal and was trying to work the forks less but I do use the rear a lot to keep the ride smoother and when 2 up.

Standard caliper, just thought it'd get cooler air down there, plus lower c of g.

I had mine made as the ones from the other Ducs is too short.

G. One question, please, could you measure the lenght of your connecting rod?

the drawings I have are for a SS, the rod, I understand, should be longer on the 907ie

of course. I`ll never go 17" and the 907ie swingarm looks original, there`s more space for the 180 tire and if the wheel is set farther back I can extend wheelbase and and slightly lift the rear which would affect handling positively. Combining these parts is a challenge though as it needs several new parts made which means one won`t see it everywhere (if I had a 907ie I would do the same - I swear )

I like the idea of a fully floating rear brake , and wanna do it as part of my 17" conv, but we are going to need to be real sneaky and cunning to keep the centre stand , and the torque arm mount sure wont bolt onto the crankcase ah la SS

McTool, check my thread in the P750 section (p.2). My torque arm is mounted to the crankcase and I also have the center stand.
