Little cousin Leo was over at the house and Dad felt it was appropriate to get the little guy started. Just like roughly 32 years ago he did for me on his Yamaha TT.. I'm getting rid of that Flag!

Afternoon Fellas, it's me Rhythminblues, I had to set up an alternate account because the "system" wasn't working, ie sending me my log in info....
The bikes got a few thousand good miles on it in the past two months. Its currently getting a full service, belts, rollers, check seals, check (groaning, grabby) clutch, sync tb, set tps, change all fluids inc forks, check head bearings, bleed breaks, adjust valves.... Maybe more I can't remember everything on my list.. I bought another 907, a 93 w 60k :shock:. It runs great an pulls hard, got f1s, Corbin seat, bar risers, BAD rear sprocket. All in all a pretty good bike; I bought it for my dad for fathers day. It's going On the lift after the 92 is done.

Here's the question: the 93 has Metzlers w a much rounder (not pointy) just rounder profile than the Pirellies on the 92 and the bike will LAY into the turn much better with very good mid corner stability, transition from side to side is very good as well.

As a poll can you fellows tell me;
1. What tires your running
2. What sizes
3. Pics if possible from strait on so we can see the profile
4. How many miles on them currently, or did you get from them
6. Your impression of them, strait line, turn in, warm up, wear traits, etc....
And anything else you'd like to add.

I just put a new set of the Pirelli Angels on my ST. They have a really light feel to them and turn in very quickly. I ended up lowering the rear ride height to slow it down a bit. For a slow turning bike, I can highly recommend the Pirelli Angels.

Used Bridgstone 020 for years, 180 rear. Didn't notice much difference when I changed from 170 to 180 but by the time I replace a tyre its pretty knackered so any new tyre is going to feel better. About to fit a B.S.023 to the front which looks a rounder profile. I've got a different front end on my bike now and during the course of that I fitted a 120/60 (lower profile) front. If you can get one cheap(I got a part worn) give it a try if you're looking to quicken the steering but maybe run a couple of extra psi. After your posting I'll be trying a rounder profile sometime.

Thanks 900, I've got a zx7r race bike and a guy over on zxforums had good things to say about the new Brigestones as well. Keep it common fellas, I'm sure all you guys have some good tire info!

Hi,

I run a set of BT23R's for 6500 km now. 120/70 at 2.3 bar front; 180/55 at 2.6 bar rear. The profile is still nice round and the bike handles well enough for me. I ride more back roads as hihgways. At highways mostly cruising between 120 -160 km/h. Backroads driving is depending on my state of mind :evil:
when I've to change the tyres, BT23 are a serious option.

The other tire that is getting rave reviews is the new Michelin Pilot Road 3 or PR3.
Another, is the tire designed for the Buell Ulysses, the Dunlop d616. If you ride in the rain, this tire is it. (probably not many 907's out in the rain I would guess)

Truth is, lots of new tires are great, and every new model gets better. I don't think there is a bad tire from the major manufacturers. Any new tire beat the pants off any tire 10 years ago, and they were good then. New tires are always lovely.

I recommend a sport touring tire over a true sport tire for two reasons.
1. they have better cold grip, and don't need to be warmed up to perform well, but will perform fine if pushed hard.
2. They get great mileage. Many are getting 5k miles on ST4s, Multistradas, and FJ's on the new Pirellis, Micheline PR3s, and Avons.

Unless you do track days, the heat performance of a sport tire is rarely experienced.

Don't know if you can get them in the states but the best tyres I have had on the 907 are Continental Road Attacks.

From experience I would always suggest Pirelli or Metzeler on a Duc because other than the Contis they tend to be a higher profile for the size. The carcass design was always better for big power pulse twins too but I think thats a little irrelevant now on the 907.
Pirelli and Metzeler share carcass designs between their ranges so it is only compound and tread pattern that are different. Having said that they often recommend different tyre pressures between tyres that have the same carcass as a result is worth checking that first

Real good guys! I love reading others experiences! I'm going to take a look at some Angles an some Brigestones ( not sure what carcass yet). I'll keep you in the loop.

For me, I'd stick with a 170, the bike turns slowly enough without putting on a wider rear tire. If you go with Bridgeston I think you have no choice as there wasn't a 170 in their range
