hello everyone,
another newby here, just bought 2x907ie ducati's, one sight unseen on fleabay and one off a mate of a mate of a mate.
intetion was to make one good one out of two ok ish ones, but they are both quite decent but need a little fetteling so the inevitable questions will follow.
first saw one in 1991 but couldn't quite afford it, quess ive made up for it now.

does the body work off a 906 fit the 907 one of the side panels has a nasty repair and no lugs.

thanks a lot, and looking forward to banishing my lack of ducati knowledge, as you can probably tell i'm into my honda's.

dave.

hi Duc907,
thats good news, seen a side panel on fleabay and at $28 seemed worth a punt.
Thanks for the quick reply, what do you mean by "uppers"?( tank and screen??)

Cheers.

I mean the screen by upper. The screen is a different shape but will bolt on and can still be used. The tank is not interchangeable without modification.

Hi Hondaboy,

welcome a board. maybe you've to change your nick name
the 906 bodywork does fit a 907. the 907 has a spoiler but that doesn't affect the fit.
the lower parts of the fairing are a little different.
I noticed this as I have 906 lower body parts on my 907. The front wheel touched the fairing a few times on heavy braking lightly. IMO no major issue.
my 907 body parts are a bit taddy with scratches and cracks. someday I'm gonna refurbish this set, to have a spare set.

Hi DucBertus and Persempre907.

thanks for the warm welcome.
maybe i should be DucDave
I will post a picture or two once i have sorted out a few little gremlins, like the brown fluid that is lurking in the clutch master cylinder, surprising how some folk neglect even basic maintenance.

Hi Dave,

if the maintenance history of the bike is unknown, I would suggest to replace all the fluids.
- frontbrakes (safety item)
- rearbrake (safety item)
- engine oil incl. filter
- coolant
- clutch
- frontfork. You'll be surprised about the dirty liquid it contains.
- rearshock.

by doing so you known your bike is fresh and you've seen the most parts and corners of the bike, learned all about her condition.
the front and rear suspension got a full overhaul, which proved to be necessary after dismantling the parts

I have done the same when purchased mine in 2006 and didn't regret it.

hi Bertus

glad to see we are both on the same wavelength, i have done all you mentioned to every bike i own.
as you say, at least you know that everything has been checked and you know its safe to ride.
the amount of neglect some bike get makes me weep.
should all be done in the next two weeks or so.
i will post some pictures of them when done.

keep well.

Dave.

I`d also add greasing the steering head bearings, the swingarm axle and the other swingarm`s needle bearings to that list. (and replacing the 20 year old rubber brake lines)

Hi Dave welcome to the .org  , you will find we are a friendly bunch with a taste for Marmite.

There are a few of us from the UK who are frequent visitors and there is a sort of owners register on here which you may find useful for reference if rebuilding
