Restoration almost complete - NEED CHAIN SLIDER PLEASE!!!

Post by mwbunting »

Well my restoration is almost complete. Hope to have on road by February. Bike has been completely stripped and every nut, bolt, bearing, gasket that needs replacing done so. Motor, frame, fairing all painted. Wheels stripped, straightened, painted and outer rims polished. Staintunes polished and Contis re chromed. Check out my photos.

I DESPERATELY NEED A NEW CHAIN SLIDER PLEASE. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The alternative will be to have one made but that would appear to be a difficult job.

Hope to have complete bike pictures for you soon.
Cheers

Michael

I guess your wife could not have appreciated the fairings (and the tank, of course) on the bed.

However, let us see the whole bike, when she will be ready

Very nice the bi-colour weels.
Great work

The chain slider is here:

http://www.ebay.it/itm/PATTINO-CATENA-D ... 3388wt_804

He's an Italian seller, but he sells worldwide.
If you need some help buying it (translation etc.), let me know.

nice work there Michael  and looking bat your n-plate you must be from tassie...(dont they raise the metal under the lettering down there?)
just a couple of questions, which ducati decals did you end up using and who did your paint job
I'd love to see the finished product
Cheers Claude.

Thanks Claude
Yes Tassie plate but the lettering is not raised.
The decals were a combination. I managed to find desmo originals. The others I got a set from Motografix in NSW and another set from http://www.classictransfers.co.uk. Classic transfers were great to deal with, reasonable price, good quality and will essentially make you any sizes you need.

The paint work was done by David Ferguson in Richmond (just out of Hobart). The fairing was pretty rough and he has done a brilliant job. He is well known in Tassie as the guy to go to for bikes. I can give you his number if you like. Motor is being rebuilt by Ross Allison in Launceston. He has been incredibly helpful. Got all new Brembo gear from Stein-Dinse in Germany but Bevel Heaven in the US also has them. Hobart Electroplating have done the polishing and chroming. The guy there is called Charles. Really nice guy and super helpful. Got a brand new Corbin seat made too. Hopefully the bike will be back together around Feb. Will upload some pictures and put video on Facebook. Thanks for the interest. Anything else you need to know send me an email.
Cheers

Hi Francesco

Thank you so much for the eBay link. Unfortunately it has SOLD. I sent an email to the seller but unfortunately I had to do it in English so not sure if he will write back.

The wheels look great. The old paint was peeling off so I had them stripped back to alloy, re-painted and the put on a lathe to make the outer inch polished alloy. Just had new Michelin Pilots put on them. Upload photo when on bike.

The bike looks great Michael, have you tried Ian Gowanloch (Italspares on Ebay) in NSW, he is sure to have one. His phone number is 02 69462626.

Thanks Ken
I have been bothering Ian Gowanloch for about a year now. Unfortunately he doesnt have one and I think I have bought most of his 907 parts. The search will continue. I may have to get a fitter and turner to try and make one.

Hi MC Tool.

Thank looks perfect.
Are you willing to sell it to me.
I'd be very grateful and you would be taking part in restoring a 907 to its glory.

Michael , its the only one I've got , I just wanted to tease you a bit ... bein' an Auzzie an all that , bit of a paitriotic obligation really :P
I did have another but the wally welding up my (30mm longer ) swingarm cooked it. But there are a couple of guy's here I could ask , like the guy I bought 3 swingarms off , although I wouldnt expect to get any sense out of either of them till after xmas / new year , so I can make enquiries there if you want, and there is one other ratbag I save till last but you might have to contact him yourself ( our last conversation didnt end well :x )
but he has wreaked a couple of paso,s ( not a bad guy really :) )
