This is just the engine but if you add the sum of parts then what we have here is a 24,000 miler standard 906 probably purchased for less than a £1,000 and stripped for spares and then sold for over £4,850 plus the postage profits.

We should not encourage this folks ......?

These guys gave me good money for my old honda, I paid £600 for it and blew the engine and they still gave me £300. There wasn't much that could be saved on it tbh mostly rust, they're in it for a business. Everyone needs to make money.

What it should be is we shouldn't sell to scrappies, these guys made it perfectly clear what they are when they came to me and I imagine the same thihng happened to the previous owner. It's upto the owner, if they wanted it to remain a bike don't sell it to breakers.

I have no objection to people making money however we will encourage such actions if we accept their over inflated prices and pay them - THE POINT OF MY THREAD  . I doubt that the bike was sold to the scrappie it is more likely that it is speculative purchase of a good road worthy machine which has then been stripped because it can't be sold at the expected "Classic Ducati" prices expected.

The way it is going the machines will be so far and few that we will be unable to get general motor factors to stock the more mundane and cheaper items just to keep the machines on the road.

No way is a full road worthy bike worth three times it value in bits. :banghead:
