Happy Feet and Knees Too

Post by Whiff Ducbreath »

Yesterday, after 3 months, I finally got my Vario Footrest Adjustments from Twisted Throttle. As per my usual, everything that could go wrong, went wrong. One of the mounting pin retaining clips was rusted beyond re-use, so I had to start off by making a trip to Lowes. Both pins had developed burrs on the bottom making it hard to put them back in. One of the holes in the new parts was too small, so I had to make it a little larger. I got blisters on both thumbs trying to stuff the springs back in place long enough to get the smoothed out pins in place. It looks So Easy on the Twisted Throttle video they have. But I usually expect the worse and am seldom disappointed. After spending 3 hours to do a 30 minute job (not too shabby considering the mechanic), and adjusting the brake lever and shift lever positions, I proudly took the Paso out for a short lunch run, after having worked up an appitite. I have long feet, so I just dropped them straight down with the 30mm extensions. They are adjustable 360 degrees in 22.5 degree increments. They surprisingly put my legs and knees in a fairly comfortable position. I had become used to the high foot position after 3 months and was going to not use them (after waiting 3 months and spending $200), but after deciding it was only a 30 minute job, resolved to give them a try. And after a 45 minute Freeway Romp, I have decided that they are well worth the effort. I am off this weekend, so I plan on giving the footrests and my new (new to me anyway, a Ebay $50 used Garmin Street Pilot) GPS a try on some serious backroads. Maybe the back way to Luckenbach, listen to some good music and nurse along a $7 beer. :choo:

I'll try it next time I am tinkering around. I thought my feet were too big to move them forward any. It might make my knees happier though. I will try it.

Whiff .... I couldn't make the pix down load inst work for me , I think they are out dated ... maybe but its a piece of piss really , gimme a PM if your stuck and I will try to explain in my unique way ( which will really do your head in  ) . Man I need to get me some of those pegs . I had to abandon a ride into town today cos I cant bend my knee far enough to ride the Guzzi let alone the paso , made it a k up the road but by then my foot had fallen off the peg 3 times ... twice hitting the road , no real feeling from the knee down
I wish I was young again............Id be heaps smarter than last time

it`s true the description on how to host and post pictures is outdated as Photobucket did modify their system a few times so I`ll delete those threads.
The easiest is to attach some pictures to a post but please don`t post pics larger than 800x600.

They sure made a difference for me. I actually enjoy longer rides since putting on these footrests

I have tried to post some pics here. I got my footrests from Twisted Throttle. Just search for Vario 907ie footrests
